	Ice Speedway Of Nations The FIM Ice Speedway of Nations, formerly known as the Ice Speedway Team World Championship, is an international ice speedway competition, first held in Kalinin (Tver), USSR, in 1979. Since its establishment, the tournament has been noted by a continued Russian dominance: the Soviet Union, Commonwealth of Independent States and Russia have won all but three tournaments. The only non-Russian teams to have won were West Germany in 1983, and Sweden - in 1985, 1995 and 2002. 	Hans Weber (speedway Rider) Johann "Hans" Weber (8 September 1934 – 10 February 1965) was a Swiss football midfielder who played for Switzerland in the 1962 FIFA World Cup. He played 13 seasons for FC Basel and two seasons for Lausanne-Sport. Football career Weber played his youth football for Basel. In the season 1949–50 he was taken up by their first team. He played his first team debut on 24 September 1950, an away game at the Charmilles Stadium, Geneva, against Servette. He scored his first two goals for the club just one week later on 1 October 1950 in the home game against La Chaux-de-Fonds as Basel won with the end score 4–1. In the 1952–53 season Weber was part of the championship winning team. For the 1955–56 season Weber transferred to Lausanne-Sport. 	2018 Speedway Grand Prix The 2018 Speedway Grand Prix season was the 24th season of the Speedway Grand Prix era, and decided the 73rd FIM Speedway World Championship. It was the eighteenth series under the promotion of Benfield Sports International, an IMG company. The world title was won by Tai Woffinden, who finished 10 points ahead of Bartosz Zmarzlik in second with Fredrik Lindgren taking the bronze medal. It was Woffinden's third world title, following his wins in 2013 and 2015, making him the most successful British rider in history. Defending champion Jason Doyle finished the season in seventh place. Qualification For the 2018 season there were 15 permanent riders, joined at each Grand Prix by one wild card and two track reserves. 	2018 Speedway Of Nations The 2018 Speedway of Nations was the first FIM Speedway of Nations. The competition consisted of two race-off events and a two-legged final. The event was won by Russia, who beat Great Britain in the Grand Final. It replaced the Speedway World Cup. Format The 2018 Speedway of Nations was a pairs event, with each nation being represented by two senior riders and one rider under the age of 21. Each meeting was staged over 21 heats with the scores from each rider added together to give a total for each nation. The two race-off events consisted of seven teams, with three qualifying for the final. The final, which included hosts Poland, was staged over two legs with the scores from each added together. The top scoring nation went straight through to the Grand Final, while the second and third placed nations competed in the final qualifier for the chance to reach the Grand Final. The world champion was determined by ten races hosted in five cities Astana, Tolyatti, Berlin, Inzell and Heerenveen between 3 February and 8 April 2018. The Championships were sponsored by Lukoil. Dmitry Koltakov of Russia was dominant throughout the World Championship series, winning nine of the ten rounds. This was Koltakov's third World title.
