2018 South Sumatra Gubernatorial Election
The 2018 South Sumatra gubernatorial election took place on 27 June 2018 as part of the 2018 Indonesian local elections, simultaneous local elections. It was held to elect the governor of South Sumatra along with their deputy, whilst members of the provincial council (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Daerah) will be re-elected 2019 Indonesian legislative election, in 2019. Incumbent governor Alex Noerdin was barred from participating due to constitutional term limits. Four pairs of candidates contested the election, including incumbent vice governor Ishak Mekki. Other candidates are regents of regencies within the province: Herman Deru from East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, East Ogan Komering Ulu, Aswari Rivai from Lahat Regency, Lahat and Dodi Reza Alex Noerdin from Musi Banyuasin Regency, Musi Banyuasin. Ogan Komering Ilir Regency (abbreviation OKI) is a regency of South Sumatra Province, Indonesia. It takes its name from the Ogan River and the Komering River, which are the two main rivers that drain the area. Pangkal Pinang is the capital and largest city of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province in Indonesia.
