2018 Saskatchewan New Democratic Party Leadership Election
An election for the leadership of the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party was held on March 3, 2018, as a result of the resignation of Cam Broten after losing the seat he contested in the 2016 election. Ryan Meili was chosen leader. Rules All Saskatchewan New Democratic Party members in good standing will be eligible to vote online or by mail-in ballot. Ryan Meili
Ryan Meili (born April 11, 1975) is a Canadians, Canadian physician and politician from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He previously served as the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly, MLA for Saskatoon Meewasin from 2017 to 2022 and as leader of the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party from 2018 to 2022. He has founded a number of health care-related initiatives such as the Student Wellness Initiative Toward Community Health (SWITCH), the University of Saskatchewan's Making the Links program, and the Upstream think tank. Early life and career Meili was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and grew up on a family farm near Courval, Saskatchewan, Courval. He attended Vanier Collegiate in Moose Jaw before going on to the University of Saskatchewan (U of S) where he studied Human Anatomy and Languages. Saskatoon West (french: Saskatoon-Ouest) is a federal electoral district in Saskatchewan, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1979 to 1988, and again in 2015. This riding was created in 1976 from parts of Moose Jaw and Saskatoon—Biggar ridings. It was abolished in 1987 when it was redistributed into Kindersley—Lloydminster, Saskatoon—Clark's Crossing and Saskatoon—Dundurn ridings. The Saskatchewan Green Party is a political party in Saskatchewan, Canada. The Green Party was founded in 1998 as the "New Green Alliance" ''(NGA)'' by environmental and social justice activists dismayed with the premiership of the Saskatchewan NDP's Roy Romanow. Peter W. Prebble (born September 13, 1950) is a Canadian politician and environmentalist. He was an elected representative in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan for 16 years between 1978 and 2007 and has been a longtime member of the Saskatchewan Environmental Society. Early life and education Prebble was born in Essex, England, the son of Reginald Allen Prebble.
