2018 Progressive Conservative Association Of Nova Scotia Leadership Election
The 2018 Progressive Conservative Association of Nova Scotia leadership election took place on October 27, 2018, due to Jamie Baillie's announcement that he was stepping down as leader of the Progressive Conservative Association of Nova Scotia on November 1, 2017. Baillie was to remain in the position until a new leader was elected, however on January 24, 2018, he announced his resignation with immediate effect due to "allegations of inappropriate behaviour". Unlike the system of delegated conventions previously used, this election was conducted on a One Member One Vote basis, weighted so that each electoral district being allocated 100 points, which were distributed proportionally according to each candidate's level of support. Cecil Clarke
Cecil Phillip Clarke (born April 12, 1968) is a politician in Nova Scotia, Canada. He was the mayor of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality from 2012 to 2020, and represented the riding of Cape Breton North in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly, from 2001 to 2011 as a Progressive Conservative. Colchester—Musquodoboit Valley is a provincial electoral district in Nova Scotia, Canada, that elects one member of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. The district was created in 1978 from Colchester, and was called Colchester South until 1993. Brooke Taylor (born June 21, 1950) is a Canadian politician. He represented the electoral district of Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1993 to 2009. Judy Streatch
Judy Streatch (born October 6, 1966) is a Canadian politician, who was a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Chester-St. Margaret's in Nova Scotia from 2005 to 2009. A schoolteacher by career, Streatch was educated at Saint Mary's University, the Nova Scotia Teachers College, and the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. Streatch was first elected in a by-election held on June 21, 2005 for the seat vacated by the late John Chataway upon his death. She was subsequently re-elected in the June 2006 provincial election. Jon Carey
Jon Carey (born February 19, 1946) is a Canadian politician. He represented the electoral district of Kings West in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1999 to 2003. He was a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Nova Scotia. Carey was born in 1946 at Aylesford, Nova Scotia. He is a former teacher, and farm equipment business owner in Aylesford. Prior to entering provincial politics, he spent 21 years as chief of the Aylesford Volunteer Fire Department. Dartmouth ( ) is an urban community and former city located in the Halifax Regional Municipality of Nova Scotia, Canada. Dartmouth is located on the eastern shore of Halifax Harbour. Keith Leslie Bain (born October 24, 1952) is a Canadian politician. He represented the electoral district of Victoria-The Lakes in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 2006 to 2013 as a member of the Progressive Conservatives. Bain first ran for provincial politics in the 2003 election, but was defeated by Liberal Gerald Sampson. Bain was elected in the 2006 provincial election, defeating Sampson by over 700 votes.
