Premier Volleyball League
The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) is a women's professional volleyball league in the Philippines organized by Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. The league began in 2004 as the Shakey's V-League, a women's collegiate league. Since 2011, the league became open to participation of corporate clubs and other non-collegiate teams. The Spikers' Turf has served as the men's counterpart of the league. History Shakey's V-League (2004–2016) The Premier Volleyball League was established in 2004 as the Shakey's V-League by Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. led by Jun Bernardino, Ricky Palou, Moying Martelino, and Rhea Navarro who were businessmen previously known for being men's basketball patrons. The Shakey's V-League was initially an inter-collegiate women's league with teams from the UAAP, NCAA, CESAFI among others playing in the league. ABS-CBN Sports
ABS-CBN Sports was a sports division of the Philippine media conglomerate ABS-CBN, which aired some of the notable sporting events in the Philippines. ABS-CBN Sports began in 1998 as the main broadcaster for the network-backed basketball league Metropolitan Basketball Association which introduced the home-and-away play format in the Philippine basketball landscape. Beach Volleyball Republic
Beach Volleyball Republic, Inc. (BVR) is an organization aimed for the development and growth of beach volleyball in the Philippines formed in June 2015. History Co-founded by former Ateneo Lady Eagles volleybelles and current professional players Charo Soriano, Gretchen Ho, Fille Cainglet, Fille Cainglet-Cayetano, Dzi Gervacio and Bea Tan. BVR organized beach volleyball tournaments in different beaches and public places in the Philippines, grassroots development program for the young and aspiring players and the professional circuit tours thru the Beach Royals program, with the first legs held at the SM Sands By the Bay court on June 20 and July 11, 2015. The VNS Volleyball Club Griffins (originally, the Volleyball Never Stops Volleyball Club) are a professional men's volleyball team in the Philippines playing the Spikers' Turf. It previously played under various sponsorships. History Volleyball Never Stops or VNS was established in 2013 by a group of team captains who played volleyball either at the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) or the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as a means to be still able to play competitive volleyball even after they graduated from college. They often took part in exhibition games and various minor tournaments and were joined in by other UAAP and NCAA graduates. Ateneo Blue Eagles
The Ateneo Blue Eagles are the collegiate varsity teams of the Ateneo de Manila University that play in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), the premiere collegiate league in the Philippines. The collegiate women's varsity basketball team is called the ''Lady Eagles''. The Ateneo collegiate men's varsity basketball team was not always called the Blue Eagles. It got the name Blue Eagles when Ateneo adopted the ''Eagle'' as its mascot in 1938. Prior to that, from 1914 it was known under different names. The FEU Tamaraws are the varsity teams of Far Eastern University in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). The collegiate women's varsity teams are called the ''Lady Tamaraws'' while the high school varsity teams are called the ''Baby Tamaraws''. History Far Eastern University was one of the founding members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) of the Philippines in 1924. Ateneo Lady Eagles Volleyball Team
The Ateneo Blue Eagles women's volleyball team is the women's collegiate varsity volleyball team of the Ateneo de Manila University. They play in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). History The Ateneo Blue Eagles women's volleyball team was formed in 1975. They first played competitive varsity volleyball when they participated in the women's volleyball tournament of the NCAA (Philippines) in Season 51 (1975–76). The following year, Season 52 (1976–77), the Lady Blue Eagles won their first and only NCAA women's volleyball championship. They were unable to defend their title in the NCAA because Ateneo de Manila transferred to the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) in 1978. 2018 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference
The 2018 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference is the sixth conference of the Premier Volleyball League (''33rd conference of the former Shakey's V-League''). The conference started on September 22, 2018 at the Filoil Flying V Centre, San Juan, Metro Manila, Philippines. Teams played a double-round robin elimination round to determine the final four teams that will advance to the semifinals.
