2018 MLS Re-Entry Draft
The 2018 MLS Re-Entry Draft took place on December 14, 2018 (Stage 1) and December 20, 2018 (Stage 2). All 24 Major League Soccer clubs were eligible to participate. The priority order for the MLS Re-Entry Draft was reverse order of finish in 2018, taking into account playoff performance. The 2019 expansion team, FC Cincinnati, had selection #24. Available to all teams in Stage 1 of the Re-Entry draft were: * Players who were at least 23 years old and had a minimum of three years of MLS experience whose contract options were not exercised by their clubs. They were available at their option salary for 2019. * Players who were at least 25 years old with a minimum of four years of MLS experience who were out of contract and whose club did not wish to re-sign them at their previous salary. MLS Re-Entry Draft
The MLS Re-Entry Draft is an annual event in which Major League Soccer teams select players who are out of contract or have had their options declined by their current teams. Although the single-entity league does not have true free agency, the re-entry draft was created to provide an outlet of internal movement for veteran players. History The Re-Entry Draft was created by the collective bargaining agreement reached in March 2010. Under the previous rules, clubs could hold what amounted to a 48-hour first right of refusal on players whose contracts had expired or did not have the options picked up. This was a significant obstacle to a new agreement during negotiations during the 2009-10 MLS offseason. With the players threatening to strike, the league and owners agreed to add the suggested re-entry draft to provide some leverage to players. Houston Dynamo FC (formerly officially, but still commonly, called the Houston Dynamo) is an American professional soccer club based in Houston. The Dynamo compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Western Conference. Luis Miguel Gil (born November 14, 1993) is an American professional Association football, soccer player who plays for Union Omaha in the USL League One. Kyle Fisher (born June 19, 1994) is a former American professional soccer player who played as a defender. Career College Fisher played four years of college soccer at Clemson University between 2012 and 2015, where he was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year in 2015 and First Team All-American. He captained the Tigers to the 2015 National Championship. Maynor Alexis Figueroa Róchez (born 2 May 1983) is a Honduran professional footballer who plays as a centre-back. Kevin Ellis (born Kevin Boydston; June 30, 1991) is an American professional soccer player who plays for the St. Louis Ambush in the Major Arena Soccer League. Michael Jeroen Maarten Michiel de Leeuw (born 7 October 1986) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a forward for Eerste Divisie club Willem II.
