2018 Lambeth London Borough Council Election
The 2018 Lambeth London Borough Council election took place on 3 May 2018 alongside other local elections in London, to elect members of Lambeth London Borough Council in England. The election saw Labour remain in control of Lambeth Council with a slightly reduced majority, winning over 90% of the seats. The Green Party achieved its best-ever result in the borough, winning five seats and becoming the official opposition and the largest Green group in London. The Green Party finished the runner up in nine of the wards, the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats in five wards and Labour in two. The party were wiped out in the St Leonard's ward, and they also lost a councillor in both Gipsy Hill and Herne Hill wards. 2014 Lambeth London Borough Council Election
The 2014 Lambeth Council election was held on 22 May 2014 to elect members of Lambeth Council in Greater London, England. This was on the same day as other local elections. The election saw the Labour Party further increase its majority on the council, winning all but four of the 63 council seats. Notably, the Liberal Democrats lost all 15 of their seats, but one of their seats in Bishop's ward was lost by under 35 votes. The Liberal Democrats finished as the runners up in 4 wards, the Conservatives in 8, the Greens in 6, Labour in 2 and UKIP in 1. James Rowan Chatterton Dickson (born 16 January 1964) is a Labour Co-op Councillor for Herne Hill at Lambeth Council, he also serves as Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care (along with Cllr Lucy Caldicott), having previously been the Council's Cabinet Member for Finance and also its Leader. Early life and career He was educated at the public school Wellington College, as a result of being a child of a serving Royal Navy Officer, and Cambridge University where he read Social and Political Sciences. Michael Groce
Michael Groce is a poet, community worker and former criminal. His mother, Cherry Groce, was shot by police during a dawn raid on her home, starting the 1985 Brixton riot in London, England. He is now a published poet, having won the Cheltenham Poetry Prize, and actively engages with young people to inform them of his own experiences. Early biography Michael Groce was brought up in Tinworth House, on a rough housing estate in Vauxhall, London. Much of his life from age six was spent in residential care. He was involved with street gangs, and had been exposed to guns during his childhood. He spent time in and out of prison; throughout his life, he accrued 50 convictions and 15 different spells in prison. Richard Mark Newby, Baron Newby (born 14 February 1953), known popularly as Dick Newby, is a British politician, who has been the Leader of the Liberal Democrats in the House of Lords since September 2016.
