2018 Kansas State Wildcats Football Team
The 2018 Kansas State Wildcats football team represented Kansas State University in the 2018 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Wildcats played their home games at the Bill Snyder Family Football Stadium in Manhattan, Kansas, and competed in the Big 12 Conference. They were led by head coach Bill Snyder in his 10th season of his current tenure at Kansas State and 27th overall. They finished the season 5–7 overall, 3–6 in Big 12 play to finish in a three-way tie for seventh place. On December 2, Snyder, who had signed a five-year extension before the season began, announced his retirement. His final record was 215–117–1 in 27 seasons. On December 10, North Dakota State head coach Chris Klieman was hired as Snyder's successor. Bill Snyder
William D. Snyder (born October 7, 1939) is a retired college football coach and former player. He served as the head football coach at Kansas State University from 1989 to 2005 and again from 2009 to 2018. Snyder initially retired from the position from 2006 to 2008 before being rehired. Snyder retired for the second time on December 2, 2018 and is serving as a special ambassador for the athletics department. Snyder was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2015 and won several conference and national coach of the year awards. He was the head coach at Kansas State for the program's 300th, 400th, and 500th all-time wins. In recognition of his contributions to the program, Kansas State has named its home field the Bill Snyder Family Football Stadium. UTEP Miners Football
The UTEP Miners football program represents University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) in the sport of American football. The Miners compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the West Division of Conference USA (CUSA). They are coached by Dana Dimel. Dalton Risner
Dalton William Risner (born July 13, 1995) is an American football guard for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Kansas State Wildcats. Early years Risner attended Wiggins High School in Wiggins, Colorado. College career Risner played at Kansas State from 2014 to 2018. During his career, he started 50 of 51 games. As a senior, he was named an All-American by numerous publications. Outland Trophy
The Outland Trophy is awarded to the best college football interior lineman in the United States as adjudged by the Football Writers Association of America. It is named after John H. Outland. One of only a few players ever to be named an All-American at two positions, Outland garnered consensus All-America honors in 1898 as a tackle and consensus honors as a halfback in 1899. YaQuis Bertron "Duke" Shelley (born October 8, 1996) is an American football cornerback for the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Kansas State. Doak Walker Award
Since 1990 the Doak Walker Award honors the top running back in college football in the United States. It is named in honor of Doak Walker, a former running back who played for the SMU Mustangs from 1945 to 1949 and in the National Football League for the Detroit Lions from 1950 to 1955. Alex Barnes (American Football)
Brandon Alex Barnes (born October 27, 1996) is a former American football running back. He played college football at Kansas State University. Early years Barnes attended Pittsburg High School in Pittsburg, Kansas. As a senior at Pittsburg in 2014, he rushed for 2,361 yards and 38 touchdowns. He committed to play college football at Kansas State University, choosing them over the University of Minnesota, University of Kansas, and Rutgers University. Rimington Trophy
The Dave Rimington Trophy is awarded to the player considered to be the best American football center in college football. Dave Rimington was a center who played at the University of Nebraska from 1979 to 1982.
