2018 Indonesia Open (badminton)
The 2018 Indonesia Open (officially known as the BLIBLI Indonesia Open 2018 for sponsorship reasons) was a badminton tournament which took place at Istora Gelora Bung Karno in Jakarta, Indonesia, from 3 to 8 July 2018 and had a total purse of $1,250,000. Tournament The 2018 Indonesia Open was the twelfth tournament of the 2018 BWF World Tour and also part of the Indonesia Open championships which had been held since 1982. This tournament was organized by the Badminton Association of Indonesia with the sanction from the BWF. Venue This international tournament was held at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno in Jakarta, Indonesia. Istora Gelora Bung Karno
Gelora Bung Karno Sports Palace ( id, Istana Olahraga Gelora Bung Karno, abbreviated as ''Istora''), the formerly name ''Istora Senayan'' is an indoor sporting arena located in Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex, Jakarta, Indonesia. The capacity of the arena after 2018 reopening is 7,166. This arena is usually used for badminton tournaments. Its maiden event was the 1961 Thomas Cup. It was also used during the 1962 Asian Games and was renovated to host the 2018 edition. Its first post-renovation event was the 2018 Indonesia Masters. During the latter Games, it hosted the badminton and later stages of basketball events. The arena originally was planned to stage the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup and becoming the only Indonesian venue in the three-country joint bid but was moved to a newly-built arena inside the complex. Badminton World Federation
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) is the international governing body for the sport of badminton recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Sameer Verma (born 22 October 1994) is an Indian badminton player. He trains at the Gopichand Badminton Academy, Hyderabad. Sameer is the brother of Indian badminton player Sourabh Verma. Career 2011 Verma won a silver medal in the Asian Junior Championships, held in Lucknow, India and a bronze medal in mixed team event.
