2018–19 Imus Bandera Season
The 2018–19 Imus Bandera season was the second season of the franchise in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). Imus finished the regular season 11–14, despite havine gone 9–8 in the first 17 games. The Bandera were able to improve their 2–7 record from the previous season and clinched the South Division's seventh seed. They would face the defending champion Batangas City Athletics in the Division Quarterfinals. Although Imus was able to tie the series in game 2, they would lose the deciding game 3 in opposing grounds. The team played all of their home games this season at Imus City Sports Complex. The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) is a men's professional basketball league in the Philippines. History Manny Pacquiao launched the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League on August 29, 2017, starting off as a semi-professional league. According to Pacquiao, the league is not intended to be a competitor to the Philippine Basketball Association, the country's top professional basketball league. The MPBL was intended to feature both a regional commercial and barangay-level league with teams on the commercial side to have a home locality in addition to a corporate sponsor. In the first months, the league hosted teams from Luzon with future plans to expand to accommodate teams based in Visayas and Mindanao like the defunct Metropolitan Basketball Association. 2018 Bulacan Kuyas Season
The 2018 Bulacan Kuyas season was the inaugural season of the franchise in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). The team concluded their season in the Quarterfinals in an upset against the Parañaque Patriots. The Kuyas lost in three games. Despite finishing the season ranked second with a 6–3 record, Bulacan struggled in its Quarterfinal series against Parañaque. After winning game 1 at home, the team lost game 2 in a 27-point blowout. In the deciding game 3, the Kuyas would lose to the Patriots, 70–77, making them the first team in league history to lose to a lower-seeded team in the playoffs. 2018 Batangas City Athletics Season
The 2018 Batangas City Athletics season was the inaugural season of the franchise in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). The team concluded their season as the league's inaugural champions, after defeating the 2018 Muntinlupa Cagers season, Muntinlupa Cagers in four games during the 2018 MPBL Finals. Led by Val Acuña, Batangas City finished with the league's best record, winning eight out of nine games. The only loss came against the 2018 Bulacan Kuyas season, Bulacan Kuyas on March 3, 2018. The Athletics then swept its playoff opponents in the Quarterfinals and Semifinals before meeting Muntinlupa in the inaugural Finals series. After winning the first two games at home, they lost the following game 3 as the visiting team. The 2018 Parañaque Patriots season was the inaugural season of the franchise in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). Despite having a losing record in the regular season, Parañaque went on to advance to the Semifinals. The team lost to Muntinlupa in three games.
