2018 Football Federation Tasmania Season
The 2018 Football Federation Tasmania season was the fifth season of association football under the restructured format in Tasmania. The men's competitions consisted of three major divisions across the State of Tasmania. The overall premier qualified for the National Premier Leagues finals series, competing with the other state federation champions in a final knock-out tournament to decide the National Premier Leagues Champion for 2018. Men's Competitions 2018 NPL Tasmania The 2018 NPL Tasmania season was played as a triple round-robin over 21 rounds. 2018 Tasmanian Championships 2018 Northern Championship The 2018 Northern Championship was the fifth edition of the Northern Championship as the second level domestic association football competition in Tasmania. The league consisted of 9 teams, playing 16 matches each over 18 rounds, followed by 3 rounds for the top eight teams, split into the top four, followed by the next four teams. Football Federation Tasmania
Football Tasmania (FT) is the governing body for soccer in the Australian state of Tasmania. The federation oversees competitions across Tasmania, Tasmanian representative teams, and development of the sport in the state. The federation was known as the Tasmanian Soccer Association until 1996, when it was renamed to Soccer Tasmania. In line with national changes in March 2006, it became Football Federation Tasmania. In February 2019, the organisation became simply Football Tasmania. Football Tasmania sanctions all competitive football matches in Tasmania, either directly in the case of its own leagues, or indirectly, as is the case with local regional junior associations. FT also trains and appoints match officials in accordance with FIFA guidelines. Riverside Olympic Football Club, is a soccer club which represents Launceston in the National Premier Leagues Tasmania. The club also fields 37 teams across all junior divisions. Riverside Olympic play their home games at Windsor Park, in Launceston, Tasmania. Metro Claremont SC
Metro FC (formerly Metro Claremont Football Club) is a football club formed in 1941 in the northern suburb of Claremont, Hobart, Tasmania. They play at North Chigwell Oval. It has a range of teams for all ages and genders playing in competitions run by the Football Federation Tasmania. Its teams range from under 7s right through to seniors. The teams' colours are yellow and blue. Metro were relegated to the Southern Division 1 competition in 2008 and have placed 2nd in all but 2 seasons. In 2010 Metro narrowly missed out on promotion to the Southern Tasmanian Premier League, that point the highest league on offer in Tasmania coming second behind Beachside with only one spot for promotion on offer. New Town Eagles
New Town Eagles Soccer Club is a soccer, football (soccer) club which represents New Town, Tasmania, New Town in the Tasmanian Southern Championship. The club also fields teams in all junior divisions. New Town Eagles play their home games at Clare Street, in New Town. The club began life as White Eagle, who proudly represented the Polish people, Polish migrant community in Tasmania. Many Poles came to Tasmania immediately after World War II to seek a new life and better conditions following the devastation of the war. University Soccer Club is a soccer club which represents the University of Tasmania in the Tasmanian Southern Championship which fields both men's and women's teams. History The university first competed in the KO Cup in 1957, although it is believed football was played here prior to this time. They did well in their inaugural year, although drawing the KO Cup final 1–1 against South Hobart, they won on the toss of a coin. They won again after a 1–1 draw the following year, this time against ANM and by right of the most corners in extra-time. 1960 saw them Division 1 champions, and promoted into the Southern Premier League for the first time, where they finished 5th in their first season. Taroona FC
Taroona Football Club is a soccer club which represents Taroona in the Tasmanian Southern Championship. History The first club in Taroona was Taroona Ajax, which was formed in 1972. Taroon Ajax won the Division 1 league in 1973, gaining promotion to the Premier League for 1974. They were relegated in 1974 and the club disbanded in 1976. Afterwards, a fresh club was started for juniors called the Taroona Junior Club. In 1978, they merged with the St. Mirren Soccer Club from Lindisfarne to form the Taroona St. Mirren Soccer Club. Hobart City Football Club is an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in the suburb of Sandy Bay in Hobart, Tasmania. The club's colours are green and black. Glenorchy Knights Football Club is an Australian association football club based in Glenorchy, Tasmania. Founded in 1957, the club competes in Australia's second-tier National Premier League, with matches played at KGV Park. The Southern Championship is an association football league in Southern Tasmania. It is jointly with the Northern Championship, the second highest level soccer competition in Tasmania.
