2018 FIFA World Cup Qualification – CAF First Round
The first round of CAF matches for 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification was played from 7 to 17 October 2015. Format A total of 26 teams (teams ranked 28–53 in the CAF entrant list) played home-and-away over two legs. The 13 winners advanced to the second round. Seeding The draw for the first round was held as part of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Preliminary Draw on 25 July 2015, starting 18:00 MSK (UTC+3), at the Konstantinovsky Palace in Strelna, Saint Petersburg, Russia. The seeding was based on the FIFA World Rankings of July 2015 (shown in parentheses). The 26 teams are seeded into two pots: *Pot 4 contained the teams ranked 1–13 (i.e., 28–40 in the CAF entrant list). *Pot 5 contained the teams ranked 14–26 (i.e., 41–53 in the CAF entrant list). 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualification (CAF)
The African section of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification acted as qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, held in Russia, for national teams which were members of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). A total of five slots in the final tournament were available for CAF teams. The CAF Executive Committee approved the format for the qualifiers of the 2018 FIFA World Cup on 14 January 2015, with three preliminary rounds before a final group stage featuring 20 teams. The number of preliminary rounds was reduced to two, based on information provided by FIFA in early July 2015. Mahamane Cissé
Mahamane Cissé (born 27 December 1993) is a professional association football, footballer who plays for FC Nouadhibou. Born in Mali, he represents the Niger national football team, Niger national team. International Cissé was born in Mali to a Malian father and Nigerien mother. He represented his country of birth at the 2013 African U-20 Championship in Algeria. However, later that year he opted to represent Niger national football team, Niger internationally and made his debut for the Ménas on 7 September in a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Congo national football team, Congo, scoring a goal in the 2–2 draw. Cheikh El Khalil Moulaye Ahmed ( ar, شيخ مولاي أحمد; born 4 December 1987), more commonly known as Bessam, is a Mauritanian professional footballer who most recently played for FC Nouadhibou. Rajab ( ar, رَجَب) is the seventh month of the Islamic calendar. Juba Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Juba, South Sudan. It is the home ground of the South Sudan national football team. It is currently undergoing renovations, and before the year 2022 ends it will be complete and ready for use. It has also hosted matches for the 2009 CECAFA U-17 Championship.
