2018 European Junior And U23 Canoe Slalom Championships
The 2018 European Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships took place in Bratislava, Slovakia from 16 to 19 August 2018 under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA) at the Čunovo Water Sports Centre. It was the 20th edition of the competition for Juniors (U18) and the 16th edition for the Under 23 category. A total of 16 medal events took place, 8 in each of the two age categories. In addition, there were two exhibition events. One in the discontinued men's C2 category and the other in the mixed C2. The senior Freestyle European Championships were held as part of the same event. Tomáš Zima (born 2 July 1966) is a Czech physician, chemist, and a teaching professor in the fields of biochemistry, clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine. He was the Rector of Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic between 2014 - 2022 and was a candidate in the 2023 Czech presidential election. Václav Chaloupka (born 18 February 1998) is a Czech slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2014. Chaloupka is originally from Šternberk, Czech Republic and resides in Prague, home of the Prague-Troja Canoeing Centre. He won two medals at the 2021 World Championships in Bratislava with a gold in C1 and a silver in the C1 team event. Lukáš Rohan (; born 30 May 1995) is a Czech slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2010. He is from Mělník, Czech Republic but lives and trains in Prague. Lukáš now competes solely in the C1 discipline, however he competed in the C2 discipline alongside Adam Svoboda and Martin Říha at different times between 2010 and 2015. He is coached by his father, Olympic silver medallist Jiří Rohan. Rohan won a silver medal in the C1 event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
