2018 Cheez-It Bowl
The 2018 Cheez-It Bowl was a college football bowl game played on December 26, 2018 at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. It was one of the 2018–19 bowl games concluding the 2018 FBS football season. It was the 30th edition of a bowl game that has gone by various names, and was called the Cactus Bowl for its previous four playings. The bowl was sponsored by Cheez-It crackers. Tied 7–7 at the end of regulation, it was the first 2018–19 bowl game to go into overtime; TCU defeated California in the first overtime period, 10–7. The two teams combined for six interceptions in the first half, more than any game during the 2018 season, with a total of nine for the entire game. It became the fourth bowl game in NCAA history with nine or more interceptions, joining the 1942 Orange Bowl, 1968 Sun Bowl, and 1982 Liberty Bowl. The 1982 Liberty Bowl was a postseason college football bowl game held on December 29, 1982, in Memphis, Tennessee, at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. The 24th edition of the Liberty Bowl featured the Illinois Fighting Illini of the Big Ten Conference and the Alabama Crimson Tide of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Alabama won the game, 21–15. The 1968 Sun Bowl featured the Arizona Wildcats and the Auburn Tigers. 1942 Orange Bowl
The 1942 Orange Bowl matched the Georgia Bulldogs and the TCU Horned Frogs. Game summary Frank Sinkwich was the highlight of the game in a Georgia beatdown of TCU. Sinkwich had three touchdown passes and one rushing touchdown for a combined total of 355 yards (rushing and passing), a record that stands to this day, overshadowing the game's 10 turnovers. Cheez-It is a brand of cheese cracker manufactured by the Kellogg Company through its Sunshine Biscuits division. The Guaranteed Rate Bowl is an annual college football bowl game that has been played in the state of Arizona since 1989. Played as the Copper Bowl from inception through 1996, it was known as the Insight.com Bowl from 1997 through 2001, then the Insight Bowl from 2002 through 2011, the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl for 2012 and 2013, and the Cactus Bowl for the 2014 through 2017 seasons.
