2018 Belarusian Premier League
The 2018 Belarusian Premier League was the 28th season of top-tier football in Belarus. BATE Borisov were the defending champions, having won their 12th consecutive league title and 14th overall last year, and successfully defended their crown. Teams The bottom two teams from the 2017 season ( Slavia Mozyr and Naftan Novopolotsk) were relegated to the 2018 Belarusian First League. They were replaced by Luch Minsk and Smolevichi, champions and runners-up of the 2017 Belarusian First League respectively. Before the start of the season, Krumkachy Minsk were excluded from the league, after repeatedly missing deadlines for providing necessary licensing documents and pay off the salary debts to the players. The decision was made final on 19 March. They were replaced by Torpedo Minsk (3rd placed team of 2017 Belarusian First League). Belarusian Premier League
The Belarusian Premier League or the Vyšejšaja Liha or the Vysheyshaya Liga ( be, Вышэйшая ліга, russian: Высшая лига, "Top League") is the top division of professional football in Belarus, and is organized by the Belarusian Football Federation. The number of teams in the competition has varied over the years from as high as 17 (1992–93 season) to as low as 11 (2012). As of 2016, the league included 16 teams. Each team plays every other team twice during the course of the season. At the end of the season, the two teams with the fewest points are automatically relegated to the Belarusian First League, while the third worst team plays a promotion-relegation playoff against the third best team from the second tier. The top two teams from the Belarusian First League automatically win promotion to the Premier League. 2019 Belarusian Premier League
The 2019 Belarusian Premier League was the 29th season of top-tier football in Belarus. BATE Borisov were the defending champions, having won their 13th consecutive league title and 15th overall last year. Dynamo Brest won the Belarusian Premier League title for the first time, ending the BATE Borisov streak. Teams The bottom two teams from the 2018 season ( Smolevichi and Dnepr Mogilev) were relegated to the 2019 Belarusian First League. They were replaced by Slavia Mozyr and Energetik-BGU, champions and runners-up of the 2018 Belarusian First League respectively. In spring 2019, Luch Minsk merged with Dnepr Mogilev. The united club was named Dnyapro Mogilev. It inherited Luch's Premier League spot and licence, their sponsorships and most of the squad, while keeping only a few of Dnepr players and relocating to Mogilev. Barysaw ( be, Барысаў, ) or Borisov (russian: Борисов, ) is a city in Belarus near the Berezina River in the Minsk Region 74 km north-east from Minsk. Its population is around 145,000. NFC Krumkachy Minsk ( be, HФК Крумкачы Мінск, russian: НФК Крумкачы) is a Belarusian professional football club based in the capital city of Minsk. History The club was founded in 2011 by a group of football fans. The club was named after the Belarusian word for ravens. After competing in the Belarusian amateur leagues for a few seasons, they joined the Belarusian Second League, the third division of Belarusian football, in 2014. With the help of some experienced players, the team was able to finish 2nd in their debut season in the third tier and was promoted to the Belarusian First League for the 2015 season. At the end of the 2015 season, Krumkachy successfully completed back-to-back promotions and were promoted to the Belarusian Premier League for the first time in their history after a 2–0 win against Dnepr Mogilev. The 2017 Belarusian First League was the 27th season of 2nd level football in Belarus. It started in April and finished in November 2017. Team changes from 2016 season Two best teams of 2016 Belarusian First League (Gomel and Dnepr Mogilev) were promoted to Belarusian Premier League. They were replaced by two lowest placed teams of 2016 Belarusian Premier League table ( Belshina Bobruisk and Granit Mikashevichi). Oshmyany, who finished 14th last year, relegated to the Second League. Due to First League expansion to 16 teams, they were replaced by three best teams of 2016 Second League ( Volna Pinsk, Osipovichi and Kletsk). Kletsk eventually withdrew from participation due to club's lack of financing and infrastructure, and was replaced by Second League 4th placed team Neman-Agro Stolbtsy. 2018 Belarusian First League is the 28th season of 2nd level football in Belarus. It started in April and finished in November 2018. Team changes from 2017 season Two best teams of 2017 Belarusian First League ( Luch Minsk and Smolevichi-STI) were promoted to Belarusian Premier League. They were replaced by two lowest placed teams of 2017 Belarusian Premier League table ( Slavia Mozyr and Naftan Novopolotsk). Two lowest placed teams of the last season (Osipovichi and Neman-Agro Stolbtsy) relegated to the Second League. They were replaced by two best teams of 2017 Second League ( UAS Zhitkovichi and Chist). In March 2018, Torpedo Minsk were granted additional promotion to Belarusian Premier League to replace Krumkachy Minsk (who failed to obtain a Premier League and were demoted to the Second League). FC Slavia Mozyr ( be, ФК Славія Мазыр, ''FK Slavija Mazyr'') is a Belarusian football team, based in Mozyr, Belarus. History The team was founded in 1987 as Polesie Mozyr. Between 1987 and 1991, they played in the Belarusian SSR league. From 1992 till 1995, they played in the Belarusian First League. They changed their name to MPKC Mozyr since the 1994–95 season. MPKC stands for the Mozyr Industrial-Commercial Center. They won the First League the same year and made their debut in the Belarusian Premier League in fall 1995 season. They finished second in 1995 and won the championship in 1996, becoming the first team other than Dinamo Minsk to win it.
