The 2018 Alps Tour was the 18th season of the Alps Tour, one of four third-tier tours recognised by the European Tour. Schedule The season initially consisted of 17 events in seven countries, but two events were cancelled and finally the tour has 15 events in seven countries. Alps Tour
The Alps Tour is a developmental professional golf tour for men which is sanctioned by the national golf associations of France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Morocco. Established in 2001, it is a third level tour, the highest level of men's golf in Europe being the European Tour, and the second level being the Challenge Tour. Other third level tours in Europe include the United Kingdom-based PGA EuroPro Tour, the Germany-based Pro Golf Tour, and the Nordic League in the Nordic countries. Beginning in July 2015, the four third-level tours will carry Official World Golf Ranking points. Like the other third-tier European tours, the top ten players on the Order of Merit are exempt through the second stage of European Tour Qualifying School, and the top five win playing privileges on the Challenge Tour. Julien Forêt (born 21 August 1982) is a French professional golfer. Early life Forêt was born in the French colony of New Caledonia. He began playing golf at age twelve. Professional career Forêt turned professional in 2006 at the age of 23. He began playing on the Challenge Tour, the European Tour's developmental tour, and won the Golf Open International de Toulouse. Forêt's successful start to his professional career continued when he came through 2006 European Tour Qualifying School to earn a place on the European Tour for 2007. However he then suffered a slump in form. In 2007 Forêt made only two cuts on the European Tour. He returned to the Challenge Tour for 2008 but only made four cuts. Challenge Tour
The Challenge Tour is the second-tier men's professional golf tour in Europe. It is operated by the PGA European Tour and, as with on the main European Tour and the European Senior Tour, some of the events are played outside Europe. History The tour was introduced in 1986 and was initially called the ''Satellite Tour''. The Order of Merit was introduced in 1989, with the top five players on it winning membership of the European Tour for the following season. The following year the tour was renamed the Challenge Tour. Up to 1993 the Challenge Tour rankings were based on each player's best several results, but since 1994 it has been a straightforward money list, with all results counting. Players who are successful on the Challenge Tour qualify for membership of the European Tour the following year. Twenty players earn direct promotion to the European Tour.
