2018 AFC Futsal Championship
The 2018 AFC Futsal Championship was the 15th edition of the AFC Futsal Championship, the biennial international futsal championship organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the men's national teams of Asia. The AFC appointed Taipei and New Taipei City, Taiwan (designated as Chinese Taipei by FIFA) as hosts on 29 July 2017; the tournament took place between 1 and 11 February 2018 at Xinzhuang Gymnasium and University of Taipei Gymnasium. A total of 16 teams played in the tournament. Defending champions Iran defeated Japan in the final to win their 12th title. Qualification Qualifying was played on 15 October – 12 November 2017. Qualified teams The following 16 teams qualified for the final tournament. Venues The competition was played in two venues in two cities. Hossein Tayyebi Bidgoli ( fa, حسین طیبی بیدگلی; born 29 September 1988) is an Iranian professional futsal player who plays for Palma and the Iran national futsal team. His first match with Iran was in 2009 at the age of 20. He was ranked Top Goalscorer at the 2014 (15) and 2018 AFC Futsal Championship (14), and 5th Best Player in the World at the UMBRO Futsal Awards in 2017 and 2018. 2018 AFC Futsal Championship Qualification
The 2018 AFC Futsal Championship qualification was the qualification process organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to determine the participating teams for the 2018 AFC Futsal Championship, the 15th edition of the international men's futsal championship of Asia. A total of 16 teams qualified to play in the final tournament, including Chinese Taipei who qualified automatically as hosts. The qualification process was divided into four zones, where the ASEAN Zone doubled as the 2017 AFF Futsal Championship, the East Zone and West Zone was played in Thailand, and the South Zone was merged to Central Zone as Nepal was the only team from South Zone. Taipei Gymnasium
The Taipei Gymnasium () is a gymnasium in Songshan District, Taipei, Taiwan. History The gymnasium was opened in 1994 and renovated in 2008. Architecture The gymnasium is housed in a 7-story building with a total floor area of 5,128 m2. It consists of facilities and equipment for ball games, conference room, audio center, classrooms for martial arts and aerobic, offices, badminton and billiard room. Ball games area has 1,340 seating capacity and badminton area has 1,000 seating capacity. The building also consists of two basement floors. The 2014 AFC Futsal Championship was held in Vietnam from 30 April to 10 May 2014. 16 countries took part in the 13th edition of the tournament.
