2017–18 Quinnipiac Bobcats Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Quinnipiac Bobcats men's basketball team represented Quinnipiac University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bobcats, led by first-year head coach Baker Dunleavy, played their home games at TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Connecticut as members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. They finished the season 12–21 overall, 7–11 in MAAC play to finish in a tie for seventh place. As the No. 7 seed at the MAAC tournament, they defeated No. 10 seed Siena and upset No. 2 seed Canisius to advance to the semifinals where they lost to No. 6 seed Fairfield. Previous season The Bobcats finished the 2016–17 season 10–21, 7–13 in MAAC play to finish in eighth place. They lost in the first round of the MAAC tournament to Niagara. Baker Dunleavy
Baker Dunleavy (born October 5, 1982) is an American college basketball coach and current head coach for the Quinnipiac Bobcats men's basketball team. Playing career After playing at Jesuit High School, Dunleavy took a post-graduate year at the Lawrenceville School, where he subsequently committed to Villanova. In a class with the likes of Randy Foye, Allan Ray, and Curtis Sumpter, Dunleavy appeared in 28 games over his career and was part of the Wildcats' 2005 Sweet 16 squad. Coaching career Upon graduation from Villanova, Dunleavy entered the private sector, going to work for Merrill Lynch before accepting a job under Jay Wright in 2010 as the director of basketball operations. Dunleavy climbed the ranks to an assistant coach in 2012, and associate head coach in 2013. The Villanova Wildcats men's basketball program represent Villanova University in men's college basketball and competes in the Big East Conference of NCAA Division I. Their first season was the 1920–21 season. Named the "Wildcats", Villanova is a member of the Philadelphia Big Five, five Philadelphia college basketball teams who share a passionate rivalry. The Penn State Nittany Lions basketball team is an NCAA Division I college basketball team representing the Pennsylvania State University. They are a member of the Big Ten Conference and play home games at the 15,261-seat Bryce Jordan Center, moving there from Rec Hall during the 1995–96 season. Their student cheering section is known as the Legion of Blue. The program has nine NCAA tournament appearances with its best finish coming in 1954, reaching the Final Four. The Tulsa Golden Hurricane men's basketball team represents the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. The team participates in the American Athletic Conference. The Golden Hurricane are led by head coach Eric Konkol, hired from Louisiana Tech on March 21, 2022 to replace Frank Haith who had resigned.
