2017–18 Pittsburgh Panthers Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Pittsburgh Panthers men's basketball team represented the University of Pittsburgh during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Panthers were led by second-year head coach Kevin Stallings and played their home games at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Panthers entered the season as one of the most inexperienced teams in NCAA Division I. ESPN's Andrea Adelson summed up the team's situation in a February 2018 piece: They finished with the worst season in program history, going 8–24 overall and 0–18 in ACC play, finishing dead last in the conference and losing in the first round of the ACC tournament to Notre Dame. On March 8, 2018, Pitt fired Stallings. On March 27, Pitt hired Duke assistant coach Jeff Capel as head coach. Kevin Stallings
Kevin E. Stallings (born October 1, 1960) is a former American basketball coach, who formerly served as the head coach at Illinois State University, Vanderbilt University and the University of Pittsburgh. He was an assistant coach at Purdue University and the University of Kansas. Playing career Stallings was born in Collinsville, Illinois. He graduated from Collinsville High School in Collinsville, Illinois in 1978, where he played guard (6'5", 190 lbs.) for four years under legendary coach Vergil Fletcher and won three conference championships. The Kahoks went 30–1 his junior season and lost to De La Salle in the first round of the Illinois state tournament, 67–66. Michael Young (born September 5, 1994) is an American basketball player for Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski of the Polish Basketball League. Young played college basketball for the Pittsburgh Panthers of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Early years Young went to St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, New Jersey and graduated in 2013 where he led Saint Benedict's to the National High School Invitational and finished runner-up, and also the New Jersey Prep High. Huber Heights is a suburb of Dayton in Montgomery and Miami counties in the U.S. state of Ohio. Its origins trace back to the now-defunct Wayne Township, which was settled in the early-mid 1800s.
