2017–18 Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2017–18 Northeast Conference men's basketball season began with practices in October 2017, followed by the start of the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. Conference play started in late December and concluded in February 2018. The NEC tournament will be held from March 1 through March 7 with the higher-seeded team hosting each game. Andrew Toole
Andrew Toole (born September 11, 1980) is an American college basketball head coach for Robert Morris University. He has held that position since 2010 and is currently the 6th youngest head coach in Division I basketball. Toole had served as an assistant coach at Lafayette College and Robert Morris prior to accepting his first head coaching position. As a player, Toole played at Elon University before transferring to the University of Pennsylvania. Playing career Raised in Red Bank, New Jersey, Toole played high school basketball at Christian Brothers Academy, graduating in 1998. While at Penn, Toole helped guide the Quakers to consecutive NCAA tournament appearances in 2002 and 2003. He served as co-captain for the 2002-03 Quaker team that finished the regular season 22–6. Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Coach Of The Year
The Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Coach of the Year is a basketball award given to head coaches in the Northeast Conference (NEC). The award is presented to the head coach voted to be the most successful that season by the league's coaches. The award was first given following the 1982–83 season, the second year of the conference's existence, to Matt Furjanic of Robert Morris. Howie Dickenman of Central Connecticut has won the most awards with four. Bashir Mason of Wagner has won three, and seven other coaches have won the award twice. One former NEC Coach of the Year has been inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame as a coach: Jim Phelan (inducted 2001). Due to Phelan's success, in 2003 the NEC men's basketball coach of the year award was named in his honor. The Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year is an annual award given to the Northeast Conference's (NEC) most outstanding player. The award was first given following the 1982–83 season, when the league was known as the Eastern College Athletic Conference, ECAC Metro Conference. The most well-recognized NEC Player of the Year is Marist Red Foxes men's basketball, Marist's Rik Smits, who won the award in both 1987 and 1988. Smits went on to have a successful National Basketball Association (NBA) career for 12 seasons (1988–2000), all with the Indiana Pacers. Credit Union 1 Arena (previously known as UIC Pavilion) is a multi-purpose arena located at 525 S. Racine Avenue on the Near West Side in Chicago, Illinois. It opened in 1982. Description and history Credit Union 1 Arena is located on the campus of the University of Illinois Chicago. Originally named the UIC Pavilion, it opened in 1982, and was renovated in 2001. 2017–18 UIC Flames Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 UIC Flames men's basketball team represented the University of Illinois at Chicago in the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Flames, led by third-year head coach Steve McClain, played their home games at the UIC Pavilion as members of the Horizon League. They finished the season 20–16, 12–6 in Horizon League play, to finish in third place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Horizon League tournament to Milwaukee. Ferrell Center
The Paul J. Meyer Arena, which is part of the Ferrell Center, is an arena in Waco, Texas. Built in 1988 and located adjacent to the Brazos River, it is home to the Baylor University Bears volleyball, acrobatics, and tumbling teams. It is named for Charles R. Ferrell, a Baylor student and legacy who died in 1967, and whose family's estate was a major benefactor of the arena. The building replaced the Heart O' Texas Coliseum as the school's primary indoor athletic facility. The men's and women's basketball teams relocated to the newly-constructed Foster Pavilion in 2024. UD Arena
University of Dayton Arena (commonly known as UD Arena) is a 13,409-seat multi-purpose arena located in Dayton, Ohio. The arena opened in 1969. It is home to the University of Dayton Flyers basketball teams. From 2001 to 2010, the facility hosted the annual "play-in" game in the NCAA men's basketball tournament (officially the "opening round" game) which featured the teams rated 64th and 65th in the tournament field. Since 2011, when the tournament expanded to four opening-round games, the arena continued to host all "first four" games. The 2017–18 Radford Highlanders men's basketball team represented Radford University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Isaiah Blackmon
Isaiah Michael Blackmon (born March 8, 1996) is an American former basketball player. He played college basketball for the Saint Francis Red Flash and professionally for Beşiktaş of the Basketball Super League (BSL). Early life Blackmon grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina and attended West Charlotte High School. He averaged 17 points and seven rebounds per game as a senior. Despite drawing some interest from Old Dominion, he was not offered a scholarship. Blackmon committed to play college basketball at Saint Francis University, his only Division I offer. Bashir Mason
Bashir Mason (born February 11, 1984) is an American college basketball coach and current head men's basketball coach at Saint Peter's University. He was previously an assistant coach at Marist College in 2008, and an assistant coach at Wagner College in 2010. Mason played high school basketball at St. Benedict's Preparatory School, then joined head coach Bruiser Flint to play college basketball at Drexel University. He was a four-year starter for the Dragons, scoring over 1,000 points and handing out 471 assists as a point guard. He was a Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) all-defensive player every season, as well as the CAA's defensive player of the year as a freshman.
