2017–18 NBL Season
The 2017–18 NBL season was the 40th season of the National Basketball League since its establishment in 1979. A total of eight teams contested the league. The regular season was played between October 2017 and February 2018, followed by a post-season featuring the top four in March 2018. Australian broadcast rights to the season were held by Fox Sports, in the third year of a five-year deal, with two games per week simulcast on SBS. In New Zealand, Sky Sport were the official league broadcaster. As Australia and New Zealand participated in 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualification, the league took a break during the newly created FIBA international windows of 20–28 November 2017 and 19–27 February 2018. New Zealand Men's National Basketball Team
The New Zealand men's national basketball team is the senior men's national basketball team of New Zealand. The team is nicknamed the Tall Blacks. The ''Tall Blacks'' name is one of many New Zealand national team nicknames related to the All Blacks. Over its history, the team has won three FIBA Oceania Championships, and twice appeared in the Summer Olympic Games. It participated in its first FIBA Asia Cup in 2017, finishing in fourth place. Singapore Slingers
The Singapore Slingers is a Singaporean professional basketball team that currently compete in the ASEAN Basketball League. The Slingers were known as the JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers between 2009 and 2014, due to sponsorship ties with JobStreet.com. The Slingers formerly competed in Australia's National Basketball League (NBL), becoming the first – and so far, the only – Asia-based club to compete in the NBL when they joined at the start of the 2006–07 NBL season. They withdrew from the competition in July 2008, with their decision influenced by the financial costs of travelling. They subsequently competed in the "Singapore Challenge Series", where they played against a range of teams from the Philippines, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, India and Australia. The Yulon Luxgen Dinos are a basketball team in the Super Basketball League in Taiwan. It was founded in 1965 by Yulon Motor's (or the Taiwanese Car Manufacturer Luxgen) Chairman as a First Division amateur basketball team. The Singapore Sports Hub (Chinese: 新加坡体育城; Malay: Hab Sukan Singapura; Tamil: சிங்கப்பூர் விளையாட்டு மையம்) is a sports and recreation district in Kallang, Singapore. The 2017 Merlion Cup was the 11th edition of the Merlion Cup, an invitational club basketball tournament organized by the Basketball Association of Singapore. The Adelaide 36ers from Australia won the title by defeating the defending champions Shanghai Sharks from China, 101-81, for their maiden championship, and the second for Australia, with Melbourne Tigers winning it in 1994. Nissan Sports Centre
The Dongguan Basketball Centre (), also referred as Bank of Dongguan Basketball Centre () for sponsorship reasons, is an indoor arena located in Dongguan, China. It is used mostly for basketball matches and concerts. Guangdong Southern Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association are the tenants. Dongguan Basketball Center opened on 31 August 2014. Yao Ming's Yao Foundation Charity Game 2014, contested by Tony Parker, Shane Battier, Carl Landry, Troy Daniels, Wang Zhelin, Guo Ailun and Zhou Peng, was held as the opening match.
