2017–18 Mumbai City FC Season
The 2017–18 Mumbai City FC season was the club's fourth season since its establishment in 2014 and their fourth season in the Indian Super League. Background Mumbai City FC finished first in the standings at the end of the 2016 ISL league stage, thus qualifying for the semifinals for the very first time led by Diego Forlán who was their marquee player. However they lost in the semifinals to Atlético de Kolkata 3–2 on aggregate. Coach Alexandre Guimarães was thus retained for his 2nd term in-charge as the head coach of the club. Transfers Due to the Indian Super League regulation each club was allowed to retain a maximum of two Indian players over the age of twenty-one (21) from previous squad. Abinas Ruidas is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a left winger for Madan Maharaj. Mehrajuddin Wadoo (born 12 February 1984) is an Indian professional manager and former footballer. He is the current head coach of I-League club Mohammedan. The 2017–18 ISL Players Draft was a players draft conducted by the Indian Super League on 23 July 2017. Format Regulations for the 2017–18 Indian Super League season allow for each club to have a minimum of 15 Indian players and a maximum of 18, which include two mandatory under-21 players. Prior to the draft, each club was allowed to retain a maximum of two senior players from the previous season (2016–17 I-League for Bengaluru FC) as well as retaining up to three under-21 players.
