2017–18 Hamburger SV Season
The 2017–18 Hamburger SV season was the 99th season in the football club's history and 55th consecutive and overall season in the top flight of German football, the Bundesliga, having been promoted from the Oberliga Nord in 1963. Finishing 17th, Hamburg was relegated for the first time in the Bundesliga's 55-year history. In addition to the domestic league, Hamburger SV also participated in this season's edition of the domestic cup, the DFB-Pokal. Hamburger Sport-Verein e.V. (), commonly known as Hamburger SV () or Hamburg (), is a German sports club based in Hamburg, with its largest branch being its football section. Though the current HSV was founded in June 1919 from a merger of three earlier clubs, it traces its origins to 29 September 1887 when the first of the predecessors, SC Germania, was founded. Up until the 2017–18 Bundesliga season, which found the team relegated for the first time in history, HSV's football team had the distinction of being the only team that had played continuously in the top tier of the German football league system since the founding of the club at the end of World War I. Oberliga Nord
The Oberliga Nord was the fourth tier of the German football league system in the north of Germany. It covered the states of Lower Saxony, Bremen, Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein. With the introduction of the 3. Liga, the league ceased to exist from 2008. André Hahn (born 13 August 1990) is a German Association football, footballer who plays as a midfielder, winger and Forward (association football), forward. Club career Hamburger SV Hahn began his career with Hamburger SV II, who he joined in 2008. FC Oberneuland Two years later, he signed for FC Oberneuland where he made an immediate impact, scoring eight goals in fifteen matches in the first half of the 2010–11 season. Kyriakos Papadopoulos ( el, Κυριάκος Παπαδόπουλος; born 23 February 1992) is a Greek professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Super League club Lamia. Mërgim Mustafë Mavraj (born 9 June 1986) is a former professional footballer who played as a centre-back. Born in Germany, he represented the Albania national team from 2012 until 2020. Rick van Drongelen (born 20 December 1998) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Turkish club Samsunspor. Career Van Drongelen is a youth exponent from Sparta Rotterdam. Dennis Diekmeier
Dennis Diekmeier (born 20 October 1989) is a German professional footballer who plays as a right-back for SV Sandhausen in the 2. Bundesliga. Coming through the ranks of Werder Bremen, Diekmeier moved to 1. FC Nürnberg in 2009. His form there led him to being named to one of the best full-backs in the league, after which he joined Hamburger SV in July 2010, where he enjoyed a successful eight-year spell.
