The 2017–18 FIS Ski Flying World Cup was the 21st official World Cup season in ski flying. The winner was awarded with small crystal globe as the subdiscipline of FIS Ski Jumping World Cup. Andreas Stjernen
Andreas Kolset Stjernen (born 30 July 1988) is a Norwegian retired ski jumper. He is the son of former ski jumper Hroar Stjernen. Career He made his debut in the Continental Cup in February 2005 in Brotterode, scoring two 49th places over two days. His first time among the top thirty occurred in March 2006 in Bischofshofen when he finished 28th, and his first time among the top ten occurred in March 2009 in Trondheim when he finished eighth. He made his World Cup debut in December 2009 in Lillehammer and collected his first World Cup points by finishing 19th. His personal best is 249 meters set in Vikersund on 14 February 2016. Stjernen won the 2017–18 FIS Ski Flying World Cup, becoming the first Norwegian to achieve this feat. Planica
Planica () is an Alpine valley in northwestern Slovenia, extending south from the border village of Rateče, not far from another well-known ski resort, Kranjska Gora. Further south, the valley extends into the Tamar Valley, a popular hiking destination in Triglav National Park. Planica is famous for ski jumping. The first ski jumping hill was constructed before 1930 at the slope of Mount Ponca. In 1933, Ivan Rožman constructed a larger hill, known as the Bloudek Giant (''Bloudkova velikanka'') after Stanko Bloudek, which later gave rise to ski flying. The venue was completed in 1934. The first ski jump over in history was achieved at the hill in 1936 by Sepp Bradl. At the time, it was the biggest jumping hill in the world. Jernej Damjan (born 28 May 1983) is a Slovenian former ski jumper. Domen Prevc (born 4 June 1999) is a Slovenian ski jumper. Career 2015: World Cup debut Prevc competed in the 2015 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival. He made an individual World Cup debut on 22 November 2015 in Klingenthal with eighth place. He needed only four World Cup starts to reach his first podium on 19 December 2015 in Engelberg where he took second place. Dawid Grzegorz Kubacki ( ; born 12 March 1990) is a Polish ski jumper. He is a member of the national team and competed at the Winter Olympics in 2014, 2018 and 2022, winning two bronze medals. Robert Høneren Johansson (born 23 March 1990) is a Norwegian ski jumper. He is a former ski flying world record holder, having landed a jump of in Vikersund on 18 March 2017.
