The 2017–18 Cypriot Second Division was the 63rd season of the Cypriot second-level football league. It began on 15 September 2017 and ended on 21 April 2018. Cypriot Second Division
The Cypriot Second Division ( el, Πρωτάθλημα Β΄ Κατηγορίας) is the second highest football division of the Cypriot football league system. Administrated by the Cyprus Football Association, it is contested by 16 teams, with the top two teams being promoted to the Cypriot First Division and the last four teams being relegated to the Cypriot Third Division. History The Cypriot Second Division started unofficially the 1934–35 football season as the second level of the Cypriot football (Cyprus Football Association founded in 1934). The competition consisted of teams that didn't participate in Cypriot First Division and the reserve teams of the Cypriot First Division clubs. In the reserve teams were allowed to participate only players that had no more than three caps with their team in First Division. 2016–17 Cypriot First Division
The 2016–17 Cypriot First Division was the 78th season of the Cypriot top-level football league. The season began on 20 August 2016 and ended on 21 May 2017. The fixtures were announced on 7 July 2016. APOEL were the defending champions. APOEL were crowned champions for the 26th time and a fifth time in a row, securing the title after beating title arch-rivals Omonia 3–1 at the GSP Stadium on 13 May 2017. Teams Promotion and relegation (pre-season) Enosis Neon Paralimni and Ayia Napa were relegated at the end of the first-phase of the 2015–16 season after finishing in the bottom two places of the table. They were joined by Pafos FC, who finished at the bottom of the second-phase relegation group. The relegated teams were replaced by 2015–16 Second Division champions Karmiotissa, runners-up AEZ Zakakiou and third-placed team Anagennisi Deryneia. ASIL Lysi
ASIL Lysi ( el, ΑΣΙΛ Λύσης) is a Cypriot football club which was established in the town of Lysi, Famagusta. After the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974, ASIL became a refugee team and is temporarily based in Larnaca. The club plays in the Cypriot Third Division. History The club was founded in Lysi, Famagusta on June 26, 1932. Club founders were Ch. Fokaides, Ch. Panayides, K. Rousi and N. Petrou. The choice for the club's name is attributed to Demetris Lambrou. The club had its own stadium in Lysi. The stadium was called «Grigoris Afxentiou Stadium» as a memory of EOKA hero Grigoris Afxentiou who was born in Lysi and he was a player of ASIL. Enosis Neon Parekklisia Football Club ( el, Ένωση Νέων Παρεκκλησιάς) is a football club based in Parekklisia, Limassol, Cyprus and competes in Cypriot Second Division. History The club was founded in 2006 playing in black and yellow and is the theoretical continuation of AMEP Parekklisia and ATE-PEK Parekklisias.
