The 2017–18 season was Charlton Athletic's 96th season in their existence. Along with competing in the League One, the club also participated in the FA Cup, EFL Cup and EFL Trophy. Benjamin Paul Amos (born 10 April 1990) is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Wigan Athletic. Born in Macclesfield, Cheshire, Amos began his career with Crewe Alexandra's youth academy, but joined Manchester United at the age of 11. He has also played for Bolton Wanderers and has spent time on loan at Peterborough United, Molde, and Oldham Athletic. Ricky Lee Holmes (born 19 June 1987) is an English professional footballer who plays for Farnborough as a striker or a winger. Career Chelmsford City Born in Rochford, started his career with Southend-based clubs Southend Manor and White Ensign, helping White Ensign to win the Essex Intermediate League in 2005. Billy Clarke (footballer, Born 1987)
William Charles Clarke (born 13 December 1987) is an Irish football coach and former footballer who is the assistant manager of Hull City under 18's team. As a player Clarke was predominantly a striker as well as playing in midfield in a career that lasted from 2003 until 2021. He most notably had three spells with Bradford City and was also part of the Blackpool team that played in the Premier League during the 2010–11 season. Nicky Ajose
Nicholas Olushola Ajose (born 7 October 1991) is a former English professional footballer who played as a forward. Ajose began his career with Manchester United, but never made an appearance in the first team and spent much of the 2010–11 season on loan to Bury. He joined Peterborough United in July 2011, but spent time on loan with Scunthorpe United, Chesterfield, Crawley Town and Swindon Town, as well as another six months with Bury, before joining Leeds United in August 2014. Leon Julian Brendan Best (born 19 September 1986) is a retired professional footballer who played as a striker. He has played for the Republic of Ireland national football team. Best represented Ireland at under-21 level and won his first full international cap against Nigeria on 29 May 2009. Best had a youth career at Notts County. Andrew Lawrence Crofts (born 29 May 1984) is a former professional footballer who is currently a first team coach for Brighton & Hove Albion. He made 29 appearances for Wales at international level. He started his career with Gillingham, for whom he made his Football League debut at the age of 16, and made over 190 appearances for the Kent-based club.
