The 2017—18 Brøndby IF season was Brøndby IF's 37th consecutive season in the top tier of Danish football, 28th consecutive in the Superligaen, and 52nd as a football club. Besides Superligaen, the club participated in DBU Pokalen and UEFA Europa League. Brøndbyernes Idrætsforening (, usually abbreviated to Brøndby IF (), is a professional association football club based in Brøndbyvester, Capital Region of Denmark. The club was founded in 1964 as a merger between two local clubs and was promoted to the Danish top-flight football league in 1981. Brøndby IF has won 11 Danish championships and 7 Danish Cups. Brøndby's most successful period was from 1985 to 2005 when, in twenty years, they won ten league titles. In 1991, Brøndby reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup and became the first and only Danish club to ever reach a European semi-final. Since the founding of F.C. Matthias Jaissle
Matthias Jaissle (born 5 April 1988) is a German football manager, and former player who played as a defender. He was previously the assistant manager of Brøndby IF, and in 2021 became the manager of FC Liefering, then subsequently of Austrian Bundesliga side Red Bull Salzburg, where he currently coaches. He was a member of the 1899 Hoffenheim team that won promotion to the 2. Bundesliga as well as to the Bundesliga the following season. Kasper Fisker Jensen (; born 22 May 1988) is a Danish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Predominantly a central midfielder, Fisker started his career at local Superliga-side Randers FC before spending two seasons at Skive IK, first on loan and since on a permanent deal. He signed for Hobro IK in 2009, where he helped the team reach successive promotions from the third to the first tier while establishing himself as one of the best midfielders in the Danish 1st Division, which resulted in him winning 1st Division Player of the Year in 2013. Hjörtur Hermannsson (; born 8 February 1995) is an Icelandic professional footballer who plays as a centre back for Serie B club Pisa and the Iceland national team. Benedikt Röcker (born 19 November 1989) is a German former professional footballer who played as a centre-back. Starting his career at lower tier clubs FV Löchgau and Sonnenhof Großaspach in Württemberg, Röcker moved to VfB Stuttgart in 2011, where he became a regular for the second team. Sten Christensen (born 18 December 1965) is a Danish former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Club career In 1992, Christensen joined Brøndby. Christensen made his debut for the club on 16 August 1992 in a 3–3 Superligaen draw against Frem.
