2017–18 Atlanta Hawks Season
The 2017–18 Atlanta Hawks season was the 68th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the 50th in Atlanta. For the first time since 2013, Paul Millsap was not on the roster, as he signed with the Denver Nuggets in free agency. This was the first time the Hawks missed the playoffs since 2007, and made them the second NBA team to go 60 years without winning a title. This season would also be the last with Mike Budenholzer coaching the Hawks, as he would part with them after the season ended on April 25, 2018, later joining the Milwaukee Bucks in May. Travis Schlenk
Travis Schlenk (born 1976 or 1977) is the former president of the Atlanta Hawks of the NBA. Prior to joining the Hawks in May 2017, Schlenk was the assistant general manager of the Golden State Warriors, having joined that team prior to the 2004-05 season as a video scout. He has also worked as a video coordinator for the Miami Heat from 1999 to 2003, and as director of basketball operations for the University of Georgia basketball program from 1998 to 1999. During his tenure with the Warriors, Schlenk developed a reputation for evaluating talent. He has been credited for being primarily responsible for identifying Draymond Green, picked 35th in the second round of the 2012 NBA draft. John Collins (basketball)
John Martin Collins III (born September 23, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Collins was selected with the 19th pick by the Hawks in the 2017 NBA draft. Early life Collins was born in Layton, Utah, to John Collins Jr. and Lyria Rissing-Collins from the U.S. Virgin Islands. His father served in the Navy and his mother was in the Air Force. FTX Arena (known as American Airlines Arena from 1999 to 2021) is a multi-purpose arena located in Miami, Florida, along Biscayne Bay. It was constructed beginning in 1998 as a replacement for the Miami Arena and designed by the architecture firms Arquitectonica and 360 Architecture. Dennis Schröder (; born September 15, 1993) is a German professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He previously played for SG Braunschweig and Phantoms Braunschweig in Germany, before spending his first five seasons in the NBA with the Atlanta Hawks and two years with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Dewayne Dedmon
Dewayne Jamal Dedmon (born August 12, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Nicknamed "The Mechanic", he played college basketball for Antelope Valley College and USC. 2017–18 Miami Heat Season
The 2017–18 Miami Heat season was the 30th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). On the February 8, 2018 NBA trade deadline, the Heat re-acquired star shooting guard Dwyane Wade from the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for a future second round draft pick, after losing him to free agency in July 2016. Despite a loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on April 9, 2018, the Heat clinched a playoff berth for the eighth time in ten seasons. Furthermore, they won their division on April 11 as a result of an overtime win over the Toronto Raptors, as well as a loss by the Washington Wizards to the Orlando Magic. The Heat finished the regular season with a 44–38 record, which clinched the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. NBA G League
The NBA G League, or simply the G League, is the National Basketball Association's (NBA) official List of developmental and minor sports leagues, minor league basketball organization. The league was known as the National Basketball Development League (NBDL) from 2001 to 2005, and the NBA Development League (NBA D-League) from 2005 until 2017. The league started with eight teams until NBA commissioner David Stern announced a plan to expand the NBA D-League to 15 teams and develop it into a true minor league farm team, farm system, with each NBA D-League team affiliated with one or more NBA teams in March 2005. Christopher Matthew Jent (born January 11, 1970) is an American basketball coach and former player who is an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Darvin Ham Sr. (born July 23, 1973) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Alpha Kaba (born 29 January 1996) is a French-Guinean professional basketball player for Budućnost VOLI in the Prva A Liga and the ABA League. He plays for the Guinea national basketball team.
