2017 World Junior And U23 Canoe Slalom Championships
The 2017 ICF World Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships took place in Bratislava, Slovakia Slovakia (; sk, Slovensko ), officially the Slovak Republic ( sk, Slovenská republika, links=no ), is a landlocked country in Central Europe. It is bordered by Poland to the north, Ukraine to the east, Hungary to the south, Austria to the s ... from 18 to 23 July 2017 under the auspices of the International Canoe Federation (ICF) at the Čunovo Water Sports Centre. It was the 19th edition of the competition for Juniors (U18) and the 6th edition for the Under 23 category. The C2 mixed event was held for the first time at these championships. It was only contested at the Under 23 level and there was no C2 mixed team event. No medals were awarded for the junior C2 event and the U23 C2 team event due to low number of participating nations. ICF World Junior And U23 Canoe Slalom Championships
The ICF World Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships are an annual international canoeing and kayaking event organized by the International Canoe Federation (ICF). The Junior World Championships were first held in 1986 and then every two years until 2012. The Under-23 category has been added to the program in 2012. Lukáš Rohan (; born 30 May 1995) is a Czech slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2010. He is from Mělník, Czech Republic but lives and trains in Prague. Lukáš now competes solely in the C1 discipline, however he competed in the C2 discipline alongside Adam Svoboda and Martin Říha at different times between 2010 and 2015. He is coached by his father, Olympic silver medallist Jiří Rohan. Rohan won a silver medal in the C1 event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Florian Breuer (born 30 January 1997) is a former slalom canoeist who competed for Germany from 2012 to 2020, specializing in the C1 discipline. He won a total of 15 medals at World and European championships at the junior and under-23 level. Early life Florian Breuer was born on 30 January 30 1997 in Düren, Germany. At two years old, he moved with his family to Nuremberg, where he grew up and developed an early interest in sports, especially canoe slalom. Václav Chaloupka (born 18 February 1998) is a Czech slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2014. Chaloupka is originally from Šternberk, Czech Republic and resides in Prague, home of the Prague-Troja Canoeing Centre. He won two medals at the 2021 World Championships in Bratislava with a gold in C1 and a silver in the C1 team event.
