The 2017 Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana () was a road cycling stage race that took place in the Valencian Community between 1 and 5 February 2017. The race was rated as a 2.1 event as part of the 2017 UCI Europe Tour, and was the 68th edition of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana. The race was won by Colombian rider Nairo Quintana for the , who took the race lead on the penultimate day after winning the queen stage of the race atop the Alto Mas de la Costa. The podium was completed by a pair of riders, having assumed their positions after a first-day team time trial victory; Ben Hermans finished 13 seconds behind Quintana in second, with Manuel Senni finishing third – winning the white jersey for the young rider classification as a result – a further 19 seconds in arrears. 2017 UCI Europe Tour
The 2017 UCI Europe Tour was the thirteenth season of the UCI Europe Tour. The 2017 season began on 26 January 2017 with the Vuelta a Mallorca, Trofeo Santanyí-Ses Salines-Campos and ended on 17 October 2017 with the Nationale Sluitingsprijs. Belgium, Belgian rider Baptiste Planckaert (), who scored 1,605 points in the 2016 UCI Europe Tour, 2016 edition, was the defending champion of the UCI Europe Tour. Canals is a municipality (pop., INE 2007: 13,771) in the ''comarca'' of Costera in the Valencian Community, Spain. It shares borders with the municipalities of l'Alcúdia de Crespins, Cerdà, la Granja de la Costera, Xàtiva, Llanera de Ranes, Montesa, Torrella and Vallés (in the same ''comarca'') and with Aielo de Malferit and l'Olleria (''comarca'' of Vall d'Albaida). Geography Canals is located in the valley of Montesa, between the Grossa mountains and la Costera. Team Time Trial
A team time trial (TTT) is a road bicycle race in which teams of cyclists race against the clock (see individual time trial for a more detailed description of ITT events). The winning team in a TTT is determined by the comparing the times of (usually) the fourth-finishing rider in each team (though the relevant finish position can be otherwise specified in advance by the race organisers). This means that each team will try to get their first four (at least) riders across the finish line in a tight group: it is actually a disadvantage for any rider to finish far in advance of the fourth rider, as by staying back a faster rider can help the fourth rider to get a quicker time. Where a TTT is part of a stage race, it is necessary for each rider to be given a finish time that can be cumulated into the general classification timings. Orihuela (; ca-valencia, Oriola ) is a city and municipality located at the feet of the Sierra de Orihuela mountains in the province of Alicante, Spain.
