2017 Viking FK Season
The 2017 season was Viking's 29th consecutive year in Eliteserien, and their 68th season in the top flight of Norwegian football. Season events Ian Burchnall replaced Kjell Jonevret as manager on 24 November 2016. Almost a year later, on 9 November 2017, Burchnall was fired from the job following the club's relegation to OBOS-ligaen. Viking FK
Viking Fotballklubb, commonly known as Viking or Viking Stavanger internationally, is a Norwegian football club from the city of Stavanger. The club was founded in 1899. It is one of the most successful clubs in Norwegian football, having won 8 Norwegian top division titles, most recently in 1991, and 6 domestic Norwegian Cup titles, most recently in 2019. The club has played more top-flight league games than any other club in Norway. It has played in the top division since the league was established, except for the years 1966–67, 1987–88 and 2018. Iven Austbø
Iven Austbø (born 22 February 1985) is a Norwegian former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Career Austbø began his senior career in Viking, where he got his debut on the top level in Norway in 2004. Austbø became Viking's first choice goalkeeper after Anthony Basso left the club in 2006, and remained the first choice for the rest of the season. When Viking brought Thomas Myhre home from Charlton in 2007, Austbø was put back on the bench. Wanting to play first team football, Austbø signed for Stabæk in 2008, but again found himself to be the second choice behind Jon Knudsen. He was sold to Sandefjord in 2011, where he was the club's first choice goalkeeper in Adeccoligaen for three seasons. After the 2013 season, he signed for Viking again. Steffen Ernemann
Steffen Ernemann (born 26 April 1982) is a Danish former professional footballer. Career Steffen Ernemann played his youth career in Odder IGF and BMI. In 1999, Steffen Ernemann moved to AGF Youth Academy and in 2002 he became pro in AGF's first team. Steffen Ernemann left AGF in 2003 and moved to AC Horsens, who played in the second best league (1. division). Steffen Ernemann played in AC Horsens for 4 years. In that period AC Horsens promoted to the Danish Superliga and became a regular component in the Danish Superliga. Amund Wichne
Amund Wichne (born 12 May 1997) is a Norwegian footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Haugesund. Career Wichne signed for Viking in the summer of 2014. In 2016, he was loaned out to Ã…sane where he would play 4 matches before returning to his parent club. He made his league debut for Viking against Molde on 17 September 2017. Wichne moved to Start in 2020. On 1 March 2022, he terminated his contract with the club. The next day, he signed for Jerv. In January 2023, he signed for Haugesund on a two-year contract. André Danielsen
André Saltvold Danielsen (born 20 January 1985) is a Norwegian former footballer who played as a right-back or central midfielder. Club career Born in Stavanger, Danielsen started his career with Stavanger IF before joining Viking in 2003. In the fall of 2005 he was loaned out to Bryne. Danielsen is the player with the most appearances for Viking of all time with a total of 553 appearances throughout 17 seasons at the club. This number includes league matches, cup matches, European matches and friendly matches. On 28 October 2019, he announced that he would retire from football after the 2019 season. The same day, he revealed that he would continue to be involved with Viking as a coach for the academy at the club. The 2019 season ended with victory in the 2019 Norwegian Cup Final. Šime Gregov (born 8 July 1989) is a Croatian footballer who currently plays for Italian club Varesina Calcio. Club career Gregov started his professional career with local Zadar in 2007. He later transferred to Hrvatski Dragovoljac, where he would stay for three years. In the 2012-13 season Gregov and Hrvatski Dragovoljac finished first and were promoted to the 1. HNL. Zymer Bytyqi
Zymer Bytyqi (born 11 September 1996) is a professional footballer who plays as a winger for Konyaspor. He previously played for Sandnes Ulf and Red Bull Salzburg, and became the youngest player that has ever played in the Norwegian top league when he made his first-team debut in 2012 (the record has since been broken by Martin Ødegaard). Tommy Høiland
Tommy Høiland (born 11 April 1989) is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Sandnes Ulf. Career Høiland started his career at Bryne before moving to Viking, returning to Bryne and then Sandnes Ulf. On 10 July 2013 Høiland moved to Molde but less than a year later, on 31 March 2014, Høiland joined Lillestrøm on a season-long loan. Fredrik Torsteinbø (born 13 March 1991) is a Norwegian footballer who plays for Sandnes Ulf. Club career He started his senior career in the Norwegian team Vidar in 2009. Ross Aden Jenkins (born 9 November 1990) is an English former professional footballer who played as a central midfielder. He is currently head coach of National League South club Oxford City. Jenkins is the second player with his name to have played competitive football for Watford. He is no relation to the Ross Jenkins who played for Watford from 1972 to 1983, and was a two-time Watford Player of the Season. George William Athelston Green (born 2 January 1996) is an English footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder. Green began his career as a youth player with Bradford City, before being signed by Everton in 2011.
