2017 Texas State Bobcats Baseball Team
The 2017 Texas State Bobcats baseball team represented the Texas State University in the 2017 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Bobcats played their home games at Bobcat Ballpark. Schedule and results Texas State announced its 2017 baseball schedule on October 26, 2016. The 2017 schedule consisted of 33 home and 23 away games in the regular season. The Bobcats hosted Sun Belts foes Arkansas State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia State, Louisiana–Monroe, and Texas–Arlington and will travel to Appalachian State, Little Rock, Louisiana, South Alabama, and Troy. The 2017 Sun Belt Conference Championship was contested May 24–28 in Statesboro, Georgia, and was hosted by Georgia Southern. Ty Harrington
Ty Lee Harrington (born July 16, 1964) is a former American baseball player and coach. He served as the head baseball coach at Texas State University from 2000 through the 2019 season. Under Harrington, the Texas State Bobcats to three NCAA Tournament appearances, two Southland Conference baseball tournament championships, and three Southland Conference baseball regular season championships. Harrington is the most victorious coach in program history. Early life and education Ty Lee Harrington was born in Pasadena, Texas, where his parents Lee Pickens Harrington and Elaine Cezeaux Harrington were teachers in the local school district. The family later moved to Waco, Texas, when Lee became an assistant coach at Baylor. Ty Harrington graduated from Midway High School in Waco in 1983. UFCU Disch–Falk Field is the baseball stadium of the University of Texas at Austin. It has been home to Texas Longhorns baseball since it opened on February 17, 1975, replacing Clark Field as the home of the Longhorns. Beaver Field At Jim And Bettie Smith Stadium
Beaver Field at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium is a baseball stadium in Boone, North Carolina, that is home to the Appalachian State baseball program. Prior to using Beaver Field, the Mountaineers used Lackey Field. The stadium was dedicated on April 10, 2007, with the Mountaineers claiming a 6–1 victory over Gardner-Webb. Appalachian selected AstroTurf as the playing surface for the new stadium, joining a select group of NCAA Division I and MLB programs to use the mix of silica sand and cryogenic rubber to emulate natural grass. The stadium has been mentioned in national publications for its beauty, especially during the fall season.
