2017 Texas Longhorns Baseball Team
The 2017 Texas Longhorns baseball team represented the University of Texas at Austin during the 2017 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Longhorns played their home games at UFCU Disch–Falk Field as a member of the Big 12 Conference. They were led by head coach David Pierce, in his first season at Texas. The Longhorns finished as the runner-up for the 2017 Big 12 Conference baseball tournament, then finished as runner-up to Long Beach State in the Long Beach Regional. David Pierce (baseball)
David Pierce is an American baseball coach. He is currently the head coach at Texas Longhorns baseball, The University of Texas at Austin. Pierce was named head coach of the Longhorns on June 29, 2016. Assistant coaching history University of Houston Having coached at Rice in 1991 and then in the high school ranks, Pierce rejoined the collegiate coaching ranks at his alma mater, the University of Houston. As the Cougars hitting coach, he helped the team to two postseason tournaments. In 2002 – his second year as an assistant coach – Pierce helped UH reach a 2002 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament#Austin Super Regional, Super Regional. His hitters finished with almost 700 hits and a .310 team batting average, good for 5th in Cougar history. Bobcat Ballpark
Bobcat Ballpark is a baseball venue in San Marcos, Texas, on the campus of Texas State University. It is home of the Texas State Bobcats baseball team of the NCAA Division I Sun Belt Conference. It currently holds 2,400 spectators. In 2008, the baseball and softball stadiums were renovated and expanded to its current design. In addition, four luxury suites for up to 12 people were added. The renovations made their debut on March 5, 2009 against the Texas Longhorns with a record setting 2,593 people. Features of the venue include a press box, team merchandise area, batting cages, stadium lighting, and a chain link/mesh backstop. The 2017 Texas State Bobcats baseball team represented the Texas State University in the 2017 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Bobcats played their home games at Bobcat Ballpark. Schedule and results Texas State announced its 2017 baseball schedule on October 26, 2016. The 2017 schedule consisted of 33 home and 23 away games in the regular season.
