2017 TCR Asia Series
The 2017 TCR Asia Series season is the third season of the TCR Asia Series. Teams and drivers Calendar and results The 2017 initial schedule was announced on 8 November 2016, with six events scheduled. On 2 February 2017, the 2017 schedule has changed with the entry of Zhuhai events. On 29 March 2017, the calendar was once again changed with Zhuhai replacing the round in Thailand held at the Chang International Circuit, Zhejiang and Shanghai will also switch places on the calendar. The Macau round was also removed. The TCR Asia Series is an annual touring car racing event that is held at various locations across Asia. History TCR Asia Series was announced on 14 August 2014 by the organisation behind the TCR series under the name TC3 Asia Series - later changed to TCR Asia Series along with the other announced series. David Sonenscher, boss of the company Motorsport Asia, will be maintaining the series. He has previously run the Asian Touring Car Series and the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia. Initially seven races were planned for 2015, but later were reduced to 5 and the final calendar was with 4. Chariya Nuya (born 25 October 1987) is a Thai racing driver currently competing in the TCR International Series and TCR Thailand Touring Car Championship. Racing career Nuya began his career in 2016 in the TCR Thailand Touring Car Championship, driving a Honda Civic TCR for Billionaire Boys Racing, he took his first victory in his first race in the series' Am class. Nattanid Leewattanavaragul ( th, ณัฐนิช ลีวัฒนาวรากุล, born 16 May 1993) is a Thai racing driver currently competing in the TCR International Series and TCR Thailand Touring Car Championship. Pasarit Promsombat (born 5 March 1983) is a Thai racing driver currently competing in the TCR International Series and TCR Thailand Touring Car Championship. Having previously competed in the Thailand Super Series and Honda Pro Cup Thailand amongst others. Racing career Promsombat began his career in 2005 in the Thailand Yokohama Gymkhana Championship. In 2007 he switched to the Honda Racing Festival Thailand winning his class that year, returning for the event and winning his class in 2011, 2012 and 2013. William O'Brien (racing Driver)
William E. O'Brien (born 23 February 1959) is a Hong Kong-based American racing driver currently competing in the TCR International Series and TCR Asia Series. Having previously competed in the Touring Car Series Asia, KL City Grand Prix and Zhuhai Pan Delta Racing Festival amongst others. Racing career O'Brien began his career in 2013 in the Zhuhai Pan Delta Racing Festival, he won the Circuit Hero I, A class three times from 2013 to 2015. He also took part in the Zhuhai 500km in 2013, winning Class A, he also raced in the Asian Touring Car Series that year winning Class B. For 2014 he took part in the Fun Cup, 25 hours of Spa Fun Cup race, finishing third in the race. He switched to the Hong Kong Roadsports Challenge for 2015 finishing third in the championship standings that year. He also raced in the Macau Road Sport Challenge and KL City Grand Prix in 2015.
