2017 Scottish Labour Party Leadership Election
The 2017 Scottish Labour Party leadership election was triggered on 29 August 2017 by the resignation of Kezia Dugdale as leader of the Scottish Labour Party, having led the party for two years. MSP Jackie Baillie was acting interim leader for the last week of the election after Alex Rowley, the original interim leader, was suspended from the party over allegations of a criminal nature. Richard Leonard was elected as leader on 18 November 2017. Background Kezia Dugdale announced her resignation from the Scottish Labour Party leadership on 29 August 2017, saying that she was leaving the party in a better state than she had found it, but that the best thing for the party would be to "pass the baton on". The ''Sunday Mail'' is a Scottish tabloid newspaper published every Sunday. It is the sister paper of the '' Daily Record'' and is owned by Reach plc. History In September 1999, when Editor Jim Cassidy was sacked, the paper's circulation was 767,000. Its nearest rival was the Scottish edition of the ''News of the World'' which sold around 350,000 copies at that time. As of December 2016, the ''Sunday Mail'' had a circulation of 172,513. Martin Whitfield
Martin David Whitfield (born 12 August 1965) is a Scottish Labour politician and former lawyer and primary school teacher who has been a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the South Scotland region and the Convener of the Standards and Procedures and Public Appointments Committee since 2021. Pauline Mary McNeill (born 12 September 1962) is a Scottish Labour politician serving as a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the Glasgow (Scottish Parliament electoral region), Glasgow region.
