The Saskatchewan Rush are a lacrosse team based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan playing in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). The 2017 season is the 12th in franchise history, and 2nd in Saskatchewan. they originally played in Edmonton. National Lacrosse League
The National Lacrosse League (NLL) is a men's professional box lacrosse league in North America. The league is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The NLL currently has fifteen teams: ten in the United States and five in Canada. The NLL ranks third in average attendance for pro indoor sports worldwide, behind only the National Hockey League, NHL and National Basketball Association, NBA. Unlike other box lacrosse leagues which play in the summer, the NLL plays its games in the winter and spring, from December to June. Each year, the playoff teams battle for the National Lacrosse League Cup. The NLL has averaged between 8,900 and 10,700 spectators per game each year since 2004. Jeff Cornwall
Jeff Cornwall (born May 29, 1991 in Coquitlam, British Columbia) is a lacrosse player for the Calgary Roughnecks in the National Lacrosse League. Cornwall was drafted in the second round (15th overall) of the 2011 NLL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Bandits. His brother Travis plays for the Panther City Lacrosse Club. After playing five games for the Buffalo Bandits in his rookie year, Cornwall was traded to the Edmonton Rush for two second round draft picks in the 2012 Entry Draft (Jordan Critch and Carter Bender). He was selected by the New York Riptide in the 2019 Expansion Draft. New York traded him back to the now-Saskatchewan Rush prior to the season for the 10th overall pick (Tyson Bomberry) in the 2019 draft. Curtis Knight (May 9, 1929November 29, 1999), born Mont Curtis McNear, was an American musician who is known for his association with Jimi Hendrix. In his Hendrix biography, David Moskowitz notes: "Curtis Knight was born in Fort Scott, Kansas, in 1929". However, Nick Talevski indicates "Born 1945". Background Knight was a singer in the 1960s Harlem R&B music scene, usually fronting his own band, the Squires. In 1965, with Hendrix as guitarist, he recorded some singles and demos for record producer Ed Chalpin. Chalpin also signed Hendrix to a management contract, which Hendrix soon forgot about and left for England in 1966 to form the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Robert Church (lacrosse)
Robert Church (born August 29, 1988) is a professional lacrosse player for the Saskatchewan Rush in the National Lacrosse League. Early life Church is the son of Nancy and Bruce Church. He grew up in Coquitlam, BC and began playing lacrosse when he was 11. He attended Dr. Charles Best Secondary School where he graduated with honors, was the B.C. High School MVP and played on the provincial championship team. After high school he transitioned into B.C. Intermediate A Lacrosse League and was named MVP in 2008 where he scored 106 points. Junior career Robert played his Jr A Lacrosse career for the Coquitlam Adanacs of the British Columbia Junior A Lacrosse League. Matt Hossack (born February 02, 1994) is a Canadian professional box lacrosse player who currently plays with the Panther City Lacrosse Club of the National Lacrosse League. College career Hossack attended the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he was named the Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year for two straight seasons with the RIT Tigers. At RIT he finished 5th all time in ground balls with 369 ground balls, as well as second all time in caused turnovers with 139.
