The 2017 WNBA season was the 21st season for the San Antonio Stars franchise of the WNBA. It was also their 15th and last in San Antonio, as they would move to Las Vegas and become the Aces the following season. Vickie Johnson
Vickie Johnson (born April 15, 1972) is an American former basketball player and head coach of the Dallas Wings. Johnson is the former head coach of the San Antonio Stars. Upon the sale and relocation of the Stars, Johnson was hired by head coach Bill Laimbeer as an assistant coach of the Las Vegas Aces, the Stars' decedent team. Early years Johnson grew up in Coushatta, Louisiana. Johnson was a letter-man in basketball and track and field. In track and field, she was the Louisiana State Champion on the long jump as a senior. College years Vickie Johnson was a two-time All-American and Sun Belt Conference MVP at Louisiana Tech University. Chicago Sky
The Chicago Sky are an American professional basketball team based in Chicago. The Sky compete in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) as a member club of the league's Eastern Conference. The franchise was founded prior to the 2006 season. The Sky experienced a period of success from 2013 to 2016, making four playoff appearances and playing in the 2014 WNBA Finals. The 2017 WNBA season is the 21st season for the New York Liberty franchise of the WNBA. The season tips off on May 13. The Liberty rode an end of season surge to the top of the Eastern Conference and the third overall see in the WNBA playoffs. The Liberty were 12–12 on August 4, but won 10 straight games to finish the season with a 22–12 record. The team lost in the second round of the playoffs to the Washington Mystics after receiving a first round bye. The 2017 WNBA season is the 21st season for the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women's National Basketball Association. The Sparks are the defending WNBA champions. The season tipped off on May 13. Muskingum College
Muskingum University is a private liberal arts college in New Concord, Ohio. Chartered in 1837 as Muskingum College, the institution is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). Shay Murphy
Eshaya "Shay" Murphy (born April 15, 1985) is an American professional basketball player. Born in Canoga Park, California, Murphy attended college at USC and graduated in 2007. Following her collegiate career, she was selected 15th overall in the 2007 WNBA draft by the Minnesota Lynx. Murphy has a brother George who attend the same high school as her. The rookie played a reserve role for the Lynx in 2007, averaging 5.2 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. On June 22, 2008, Murphy was traded to the Detroit Shock for LaToya Thomas. Monique Currie (born February 25, 1983) is a former American basketball player for the Washington Mystics of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She retired on February 26, 2019, and will now work for Nike. Currie was traded from the Chicago Sky during the 2007 season in exchange for Chasity Melvin. The Sky had selected her with the first pick of the 2007 WNBA Dispersal Draft from the roster of the defunct Charlotte Sting. Currie signed with the Phoenix Mercury on February 5, 2015. Indiana Fever
The Indiana Fever are an American professional basketball team based in Indianapolis, playing in the Eastern Conference in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The team was founded before the 2000 season began. The team is owned by Herb Simon, who also owns the Fever's NBA counterpart, the Indiana Pacers, and Simon Malls. The Fever has qualified for the WNBA Playoffs in 13 of its 21 seasons in Indiana. Jazmon Chameli Gwathmey (born 24 January 1993) is a Puerto Rican professional basketball player for Lointek Gernika Bizkaia of the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto. Astou Ndour-Fall ( Ndour; born August 22, 1994) is a Spanish professional basketball player for the Chicago Sky of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) and for Çukurova Basketbol of the Turkish Women's Basketball League. Born in Senegal, she represents Spain internationally. Early life Astou Ndour was born in Dakar, Senegal on August 8, 1994. Both of her parents had been basketball players.
