2017 Premier Badminton League
2017 Premier Badminton League (also known as Vodafone PBL 2017 for sponsorship reasons) was the second edition of Premier Badminton League. It started on 1 January 2017 and concluded on 14 January 2017. It consisted of 15 league ties (each tie consisting of 5 matches) and the top four teams progressed to the knock out stages. Sachin Tendulkar became a co-owner of Bengaluru Topguns before the season and they were renamed as Bengaluru Blasters. Awadhe Warriors, Mumbai Rockets, Chennai Smashers and Hyderabad Hunters (Badminton team), Hyderabad Hunters entered the semi-finals after topping the league table. Chennai Smashers beat Awadhe Warriors 4-1 and Mumbai Rockets beat Hyderabad Hunters (Badminton team), Hyderabad Hunters 3-(-1) to proceed to the final. Badminton Association Of India
Badminton Association of India, is the governing body of badminton in India. The association, which was formed in 1934, is registered under the societies act. Prannoy Kumar
Prannoy Haseena Sunil Kumar (born 17 July 1992), also known as H. S. Prannoy, is an Indian badminton player who currently trains at the Gopichand Badminton Academy in Hyderabad. He has won bronze medals at the 2023 World Championships and at the 2022 Asian Games. Prannoy was part of India winning team at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and 2022 Thomas Cup. Parupalli Kashyap (born 8 September 1986) is an Indian former badminton player. A former World No. 6, he is a coach at Gopichand Badminton Academy. He was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2012. He became the first male player from India to reach the quarter-finals of men's singles at the 2012 London Olympics. At the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, he won the gold medal in men's singles. Boonsak Ponsana (; ; born 22 February 1982) is a Thai badminton player. His younger sister Salakjit Ponsana is also part of the Thailand badminton team. Saina Nehwal (; born 17 March 1990) is an Indian badminton player. A former world no. 1, she has won 24 international titles, which includes ten Superseries titles. Son Wan-ho (; or ; born 17 May 1988) is a South Korean badminton player. He reached a career high as world number 1 in the men's singles in May 2017. He competed at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. He plays primarily defensively, and began playing badminton after a teacher suggested it to him in elementary school. He holds a bachelor's degree from Inha University in Incheon, South Korea.
