2017 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour
The 2017 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour was the thirty-third season of the Whelen Modified Tour (WMT), a stock car racing tour sanctioned by NASCAR. It began with the Performance Plus 150 presented by Safety-Kleen at Myrtle Beach Speedway on March 18 and concluded with the Sunoco World Series 150 at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on October 15. Doug Coby entered the season as the defending Drivers' Champion. 2017 marked the first season of the unification of the Whelen (Northern) Modified Tour and the Whelen Southern Modified Tour. 2016 NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour
The 2016 NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour was the fourteenth and final season of the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour (WSMT). It began at Caraway Speedway on March 12 and concluded at Charlotte Motor Speedway on October 6. Andy Seuss entered the season as the defending Drivers' Champion. Burt Myers won the championship, 20 points in front of George Brunnhoelzl III. The 2016 season was the final season before NASCAR merged the two modified tours for 2017. Patrick Emerling
Patrick W. Emerling (born September 19, 1992) is an American professional stock car racing driver and team owner. He competes part-time in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, driving the No. 07 Chevrolet for his own team, Emerling Motorsports, as well as part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 35 Chevrolet Camaro/Toyota Supra for Emerling-Gase Motorsports, a team that he co-owns with fellow driver Joey Gase. Racing career Emerling began racing in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour in 2011. He drove the No. 07 Chevrolet/Ford for his team. He ultimately finished 13th in the points standings. Emerling kept running the full schedule in the series up to 2015, where he finished 5th in the overall standings. He only began running a few races in the succeeding years. Todd Szegedy
Todd Szegedy (born May 6, 1976) is an American racecar driver. He was the 2003 champion of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. Busch Series career In 2004, he competed in three NASCAR Busch Series races for NEMCO Motorsports in the No. 7 and No. 87 Chevrolets, with an average finish of 25th place. He made his Busch Series debut at the Milwaukee Mile starting in the 23rd position and finishing 21st. His best career finish came at the Memphis Motorsports Park which he started 37th and finished 15th. He is probably best remembered by NASCAR fans for an incident that took place during his qualifying run for his 2nd career start, which came at Chicagoland Speedway in July of 2004 in the No. 7 NEMCO car. Spencer Scott Davis (born November 29, 1998) is an American professional stock car racing driver who last competed part-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, driving the No. 11 Toyota Tundra for his own team Spencer Davis Motorsports. Racing career Early years Davis began to race in the go-kart ranks when he was six years old. From there, he progressed into late model cars and trucks. Ryan Joseph Newman (born December 8, 1977), nicknamed "Rocket Man", is an American professional stock car racing driver. He currently competes full time in the SRX Camping World Series driving the No. 39. James Robert Blewett (born August 26, 1980) is a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour driver. He is the younger brother of the late John Blewett III. Wayne Anderson (born July 16, 1968) is an American late model race car driver. Born in Wildwood, Florida, Wildwood, Florida, Anderson graduated from high school in 1986. Robert Santos III (born October 3, 1985) is an American professional racing driver from Franklin, Massachusetts. He graduated in 2004 from Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School. Daniel T. Bohn (born June 29, 1988) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He last competed part-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, driving the No. 20 Chevrolet Silverado for Young's Motorsports. Racing career NASCAR Modified Tours Truck Series Bohn attempted the 2019 NASCAR Hall of Fame 200 at Martinsville Speedway. He started the race 19th, making his debut the next day, finishing 8th.
