The 2017 mayoral election in Lansing, Michigan, was held on November 7, 2017 to elect the Mayor of Lansing, Michigan. Andy Schor, a member of the Democratic Party, was elected to his first term as mayor. Background Twelve-year incumbent Virg Bernero, a Democrat, declined to seek re-election in 2017. Andy Schor (born March 20, 1975) is an American politician currently serving as the 52nd mayor of Lansing, Michigan. A member of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party, Schor was previously a member of the Ingham County Board of Commissioners. He also represented the Michigan's 68th House of Representatives district, 68th district in the Michigan House of Representatives, which includes most of the City of Lansing and all of Lansing Township. Schor is the first Jewish mayor of Lansing. Early life and education Schor grew up in Long Island New York with his mother and father. His father found employment as a diamond distributor while his mother found work in a nursing home. Michigan House Of Representatives
The Michigan House of Representatives is the lower house of the Michigan Legislature. There are 110 members, each of whom is elected from constituencies having approximately 77,000 to 91,000 residents, based on population figures from the 2010 U.S. Census. Ingham County ( ) is a county located in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 Census, the population was 284,900. The county seat is Mason. Lansing, the state capital of Michigan, is largely located within the county. WKAR-FM is a public radio station in East Lansing, Michigan, United States; broadcasting on the FM dial at 90.5 MHz.
