The Football South Australia (FSA), formerly known as Football Federation South Australia (FFSA), is the governing body of football (also known as soccer) in South Australia, established in 2006. Description Football South Australia are affiliated with Football Australia, the sport's national governing body. The FSA run the highest level of football in the state of South Australia, the semi-professional National Premier Leagues South Australia, below this they run State League 1 and State League 2 which are level 2 and 3 on the state's football league pyramid, and levels 3 and 4 on the national pyramid. Australian Soccer League System
The Australian soccer league system is the league structure for soccer clubs in Australia. The league system in Australia since 1977 has involved one top divisional league controlled by Football Australia and many leagues run within each state below. The National Soccer League stood from 1977 to 2004 as the top nationwide tier above the current state-based league systems, in 2005, the A-League was established as its successor. The introduction of the National Premier Leagues in 2013 introduced a direct second tier of soccer in Australia, underpinning the A-League. The National Premier Leagues incorporated the existing state leagues as divisions with a nationwide end of season finals series. South Adelaide Panthers Football Club are a soccer club from the southern suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia. Para Hills Knights SC is a soccer club based in Para Hills West, South Australia, a suburb in the north of Adelaide. Founded in 1964, the club has multiple State League championships, and have been runner-up in both the Premier League and Federation Cup, The club currently competes in the State League 1 South Australia. History The Para Hills Community Soccer Club was formed by Robert Eldridge, John Eldridge, Chick Harris, John West, Andy Balter and Malcolm Owen on March 24 1964. National Premier Leagues State League 1
The NPL State League 1 South Australia is the second tier state-level football (soccer) competition in South Australia, ranked third tier in the national pyramid. The league are part of the National Premier Leagues (NPL) structure implemented by Football Federation Australia in 2012. It is conducted by the Football Federation South Australia (FFSA), the state's governing body. After the reforming of the South Australian football league structure in 2012, the league increased its participants from 10 clubs to 16. The FFSA has announced a restructuring of the league format in South Australia for the 2016 to 2018 seasons, moving from a 2 tiered system to a 3 tiered system with the introduction of a new 3rd division, which will reduce the participants in the State League down to 12. 2017 National Premier Leagues
The 2017 National Premier Leagues was the fifth season of the Australian National Premier Leagues football competition. The league competition was played amongst eight separate divisions, divided by FFA state and territory member federations. The divisions are ACT, NSW, Northern NSW, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia. The winners of each respective divisional league competed in a finals playoff tournament at season end, with Heidelberg United crowned as Champions, which gave them direct qualification for the 2018 FFA Cup Round of 32.
