David John Archer (born November 5, 1982) is an American football coach and former player. He spent six years as an assistant coach at his alma mater. He was also an assistant coach at Fairleigh Dickinson–Florham in 2006. Archer has never had a winning season as head coach. In ten years, he has had 8 losing seasons, one break-even season, and zero winning seasons. The 2020 season was cancelled due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Bucknell is a member of the Patriot League. Bucknell won the first Orange Bowl, 26–0, over the Miami Hurricanes on January 1, 1935. History The Bucknell football team was established in 1883 after a group of students from Lafayette College journeyed west to play a group of students from the University at Lewisburg, as Bucknell University was then called.
