2017 Copa Chile
The 2017 Copa Chile, (officially known as Copa Chile MTS 2017 because of its sponsorship), was the 38th edition of the Copa Chile, the country's national cup tournament. The competition started on 9 July 2017 with the First Round and ended on 11 November 2017. Santiago Wanderers were the winners, beating Universidad de Chile 3–1 in the final to win their third title and first since 1961, and qualified for the 2018 Copa Libertadores. Format The 2017 Copa Chile is based on a system of direct elimination with double-legged ties, similar to the Copa del Rey. All participating teams start the competition in the first round, with the 16 Primera B teams being drawn against the 16 Primera División teams. Prizes The champions of this edition earned the right to compete in the 2018 Copa Libertadores as ''Chile 3'' (qualifying to the second round of the continental tournament). Copa Chile
The Copa Chile (''Chile Cup'') is an annual cup competition for Chilean football teams. Due to time constraints and club pressure, the trophy was cancelled in 2000, but returned in 2008. Its precursor was the Campeonato de Apertura (''Opening Championship''), played from 1933 to 1950. The cup is now open to every member club of the Chilean football league system, from professional teams; ( Primera División, Primera B & Segunda División), down to teams from the ANFA: Tercera División. Since the season 2009, the winners obtained a direct Copa Sudamericana spot for the next season, however this was change starting from the 2015 edition; since then the winners obtains a direct Copa Libertadores spot for the next season. Deportes Magallanes is a Chilean Football team based in San Bernardo, Chile. They will play in the Primera División de Chile starting from 2023 after winning the 2022 Primera B championship. The club was founded on October 27, 1897 with the name Atlético Escuela Normal F.C.. In 1933 they became the first national champions of Chile. They won a hat trick of titles in the formative years of Chilean football (1933, 1934 and 1935) but their last major title came in 1938. Everton de Viña del Mar is a Chilean football club based in the city of Viña del Mar. The club was founded 24 June 1909 after a group of Anglo-Chilean teenagers formed a football club and named it after the English team Everton who had recently completed a pioneering tour of South America. The club's nickname is "Ruleteros" or the roulette players in English, after Viña del Mar's status as a gambling resort. Everton is Chile's sixth most successful team, having won the national title 4 times, an achievement shared with both Audax Italiano and Magallanes. Club de Deportes Copiapó — or simply Deportes Copiapó — is a Chilean football club based in Copiapó, Atacama Region. Deportes Iberia is a Chilean football club based in Los Ángeles that currently plays in Primera B (second-tier). The club hold its home games at Estadio Municipal de Los Ángeles which has a capacity of 5,000 spectators. In 1933, the club was officially established as Deportes Iberia, basing in Conchalí (Santiago).
