2017 Chatham Cup
The 2017 Chatham Cup (known as the ISPS Handa Chatham Cup for sponsorship reasons) was New Zealand's 90th annual knockout football competition. The 2017 competition had a preliminary round and four rounds proper before quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a final. The final was played on 10 September 2017. Birkenhead United
Birkenhead United AFC is an amateur association football, football club based in Beach Haven, New Zealand, Beach Haven, on the North Shore of Auckland, New Zealand. They currently compete in the Northern League (New Zealand), Northern League. Club history The club was established as Birkenhead in 1960 before it amalgamated with Birkdale in 1963 taking its current name as Birkenhead United. Present day Since 1965, Birkenhead have mainly played either in NRFL Division 1, Division 1 or NRFL Division 2, Division 2 of the Northern League though they twice early on, made it into Northern League (New Zealand), Premier Division in 1968 and 1970, only to be relegated again that same year. Own Goal
An own goal, also called a self goal, is where a player performs actions that result in them or their team scoring a goal on themselves, often resulting in a point for the opposing team, such as when a football player kicks a ball into their own net or goal, awarding the other team a point. In some parts of the world, the term has become a metaphor for ''any'' action that backfires on the person or group undertaking it, sometimes even carrying a sense of "poetic justice".
