The 2017 Brown Bears football team represented Brown University in the 2017 NCAA Division I FCS football season. They were led by 20th-year head coach Phil Estes and played their home games at Brown Stadium. They are a member of the Ivy League. Phil Estes
Philip D. Estes (born June 7, 1958) is an American college football coach and former player. He was the head football coach at Brown University from December 1997 until stepping down in November 2018. Estes compiled a 115-94 record during his tenure at Brown University. He was the most successful coach at Brown University since the inception of the Ivy League in 1956. His three Ivy League championships are also the most of any Brown coach in the Ivy League era. Estes is an alumnus of the University of New Hampshire and a former offensive lineman on the Wildcat's football team. Spec Martin Stadium
Spec Martin Stadium is a 6,000 seat football stadium located in DeLand, Florida. Spec Martin Stadium currently hosts Stetson Hatters football, DeLand High School Bulldog football and was the host of the Central Florida Warriors rugby league team. The stadium was known as DeLand Municipal Stadium from is opening in 1941 until it was renamed in 1973. The Brown–Rhode Island football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Brown Bears and Rhode Island Rams. History They have met 106 times. They have played annually since 1909, except for 1918, 1923–24, 1943–45, 1992, and 2020. Since 1981, the Governor's Cup is given to the winner of the game.
