The 2017 British Superbike Championship season was the 30th British Superbike Championship season. It began at Donington on 31 March and ended at the Brands Hatch GP circuit on 15 October. Shane Byrne started the season as the defending Champion, having secured his fifth overall title in the British Superbike Championship Teams and riders *All entries used Pirelli tyres. British Superbike Championship
The British Superbike Championship (BSB), currently known for sponsorship reasons as the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, is the leading road racing superbike championship in the United Kingdom, and was once widely acknowledged as the premier domestic superbike racing series in the world. The championship is managed and organised by MotorSport Vision, who also own many of the circuits the series meets at. The Series and Race Director is Stuart Higgs, with event marshals provided by the Racesafe Marshals Association. The series typically races over twelve rounds from April to October, with the series concluding in a three-round 'Showdown,' where the top six riders are awarded points based on their podium finishes from the previous nine rounds and then compete over three rounds and seven races for the title. TAS Racing (''Temple Auto Salvage'') is an International motorcycle road racing team based in Moneymore, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Owned by Hector Neill, with his son Philip Neill as the team manager, the team has been known under a series of names: ''TAS Suzuki'' (2000–2006); ''Relentless Suzuki'' (2007–2011) an energy drink product of Coca-Cola; '' Tyco Suzuki'' (2012–2014) a security services supplier. Dean Harrison
Dean Harrison (born 24 January 1989) is an English professional motorcycle racer. He has won 3 Isle of Man TT Races, and has 26 podium finishes as of July 2023. Harrison also competes in the Southern 100, Oliver's Mount, North West 200, and Ulster GP. Racing career Dean Harrison was 18 years old when he began motorcycle racing in his hometown, Bradford. James Desmond Ellison (born 19 September 1980) is an English motorcycle racer. After two seasons (2017 with McCams and 2018 with Tag) on a Yamaha R1, Ellison expected to retire at the end of 2018, but in 2019 again competed in the British Superbike Championship series aboard a BMW S1000RR, before parting company with his team half-way through the season in August. Keith Charles Flint (17 September 1969 – 4 March 2019) was an English singer and member as well as one of the vocalists of the electronic dance act The Prodigy. Starting out as a dancer, he became the vocalist of the group and performed on the group's two UK number-one singles, " Firestarter" and " Breathe", both released in 1996. Sylvain Guintoli (born 24 June 1982 in Montélimar) is a French professional motorcycle racer. He was FIM World Superbike Champion in 2014. He is contracted to the Suzuki MotoGP team as a test rider with occasional race entries, as a wild card or replacement rider. In 2017, he competed in the British Superbike Championship with the new Suzuki GSX-R1000. He spent the early years of his career in 250cc Grand-Prix World Championship on private bikes.
