2017 Bethlehem Steel FC Season
The 2017 season is Bethlehem Steel FC's second season of competitive soccer in the United Soccer League and first season competing in the second division of American soccer. Steel FC compete in the league's Eastern Conference. Current roster Transfers In Out Loan in Competitions Bethlehem Steel FC compete in USL, which is the second tier of the American soccer pyramid. Steel FC's affiliation with the Philadelphia Union of MLS has prevented the team from participating in the U.S. Open Cup competition. The decision to make affiliated "farm teams" ineligible for the U.S. Open Cup was decided since the 2016 iteration of the tournament. Preseason USL regular season The 2017 USL season will be contested by 30 teams, 15 of which compete in the league's Eastern Conference. Bethlehem Steel FC
Philadelphia Union II is an American professional soccer team based in Chester, Pennsylvania competing in MLS Next Pro. Founded in 2015 as Bethlehem Steel FC, the team is the official affiliate of the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer. The team competed for five seasons in the USL Championship (the first three as Bethlehem Steel FC) before going on hiatus from competition during the 2021 season. The club's current colors are navy blue and gold. Matthew Joseph Real (born July 10, 1999) is an American professional soccer player who plays as left-back for the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer. Club career Bethlehem Steel FC Real signed an amateur deal to play with United Soccer League side Bethlehem Steel FC for their 2016 season. He had committed to play college soccer at Wake Forest University, before opting to sign a professional contract with Bethlehem Steel FC on January 17, 2017. Philadelphia Union Real signed a homegrown contract with Bethlehem Steel's MLS parent club Philadelphia Union on January 18, 2018. Real made his MLS debut in the Union's 3–0 loss to the Colorado Rapids on March 31, 2018. Sacramento Republic FC is an American professional soccer team based in Sacramento, California, that plays in the Western Conference of the USL Championship, the second level in US soccer. Co-founded by Warren Smith and Joe Wagoner in 2012, the team started play in 2014 at the 20,231-seat Hughes Stadium, before moving midseason to their current home at Heart Health Park. Mawolo "Gabe" Gissie (born November 23, 1996) is a Liberian footballer currently playing for the Rhode Island Reds FC of the NPSL. Career After being a member of the New England Revolution academy, Gissie signed his first professional contract on February 11, 2014, joining USL Pro club Sacramento Republic for their inaugural season. Chris Wingate (born 3 July 1994) is a Norwegian footballer who plays as a midfielder. Career Youth and college Wingate played youth football for Bærum SK, being a part of their famous boys' 1994 team, which included Marius Lundemo, Simen Juklerød, Daniel Granli, Markus Fjørtoft and Borger Thomas. The Kentucky Wildcats men's soccer team is an intercollegiate varsity sports team of the University of Kentucky (UK). Since the Southeastern Conference (SEC) does not sponsor men's soccer (minimum four schools needed to sponsor a sport, only two offer it), the team has been associate members of other conferences. From 1995 to 2004, it was a member of the Mid-American Conference.
