The 2017 Alps Tour was the 17th season of the Alps Tour, one of four third-tier tours recognised by the European Tour. Schedule The season consisted of 16 events in six countries. Alps Tour
The Alps Tour is a developmental professional golf tour for men which is sanctioned by the national golf associations of France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Morocco. Established in 2001, it is a third level tour, the highest level of men's golf in Europe being the European Tour, and the second level being the Challenge Tour. Other third level tours in Europe include the United Kingdom-based PGA EuroPro Tour, the Germany-based Pro Golf Tour, and the Nordic League in the Nordic countries. Beginning in July 2015, the four third-level tours will carry Official World Golf Ranking points. Like the other third-tier European tours, the top ten players on the Order of Merit are exempt through the second stage of European Tour Qualifying School, and the top five win playing privileges on the Challenge Tour. Marco Crespi
Marco Crespi (born 5 November 1978) is an Italian professional golfer. Career Crespi was born in Monza, Italy. He turned professional in 2002. Crespi played on the Challenge Tour in 2006–09 and 2012–13. He was invited to the 2012 Telenet Trophy which he won to earn full membership of the Challenge Tour. He subsequently won the 2013 Mugello Tuscany Open. Crespi earned his 2014 European Tour card via qualifying school on his 11th attempt. He also earned his first European Tour win at the NH Collection Open and is the oldest rookie to win in European Tour history. By 2016, Crespi lost his European Tour card and was playing on the third tier Alps Tour, where he won in 2017. Jean-Baptiste Gonnet (born 28 September 1982) is a French professional golfer. Gonnet was born in Cannes. He turned professional in 2004 and played on the Challenge Tour from 2004 to 2006. He finished 17th in the 2006 Order of Merit to earn a place on the European Tour for 2007. He competed on the European Tour until 2013. His best season was his debut year in 2007, when he finished 90th in the Order of Merit. Robin Roussel (born 26 August 1993) is a French professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. In May 2019, he won the Hauts de France – Pas de Calais Golf Openon the Challenge Tour. Professional career As an amateur, Roussel reached the final stage of the 2015 European Tour Q-school after a final round 62. Antoine Rozner (born 12 February 1993) is a French professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He has won three times on the tour, including wins at the Golf in Dubai Championship in December 2020 and the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in March 2021. Challenge Tour
The Challenge Tour is the second-tier men's professional golf tour in Europe. It is operated by the PGA European Tour and, as with on the main European Tour and the European Senior Tour, some of the events are played outside Europe. History The tour was introduced in 1986 and was initially called the ''Satellite Tour''. The Order of Merit was introduced in 1989, with the top five players on it winning membership of the European Tour for the following season. The following year the tour was renamed the Challenge Tour. Up to 1993 the Challenge Tour rankings were based on each player's best several results, but since 1994 it has been a straightforward money list, with all results counting.
