The 2017 All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship was the 54th staging of the All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1964. The championship began on 24 May 2017 and ended on 9 September 2017. Waterford entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Cork in the Munster semi-final. Meath fielded a team in the championship for the first time in several seasons. On 9 September 2017, Limerick won the championship following a 0-17 to 0-11 defeat of Kilkenny in the All-Ireland final. Oisín O'Reilly (born 1997) is an Irish hurler who plays for Limerick Senior Championship club Kilmallock. He usually lines out as a full-forward. O'Reilly is a former member of the Limerick senior hurling team. Peter Casey is an Irish hurler who plays as a right corner-forward for club side Na Piarsaigh and at inter-county level with the Limerick senior hurling team. Ronan Lynch (born 1996) is an Irish hurler who plays as a left corner-forward for the Limerick senior team. Born in Limerick, Lynch first played competitive hurling during his schooling at Ardscoil Rís. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of fifteen when he first linked up with the Limerick minor team before later joining the under-21 side.
