2017 1. Deild
The 2017 1. deild was the 75th season of the second tier of football in the Faroe Islands. AB Argir won this season, allowing them to promote to the 2018 Faroe Islands Premier League. B36 Tórshavn II and ÍF Fuglafjørður II were both relegated to the 2018 2. deild. The season started on 11 March and ended on 21 October. Teams The bottom two teams from the 2016 season, B68 Toftir and AB, were relegated to the 2017 1. deild. Argja Bóltfelag
Argja Bóltfelag is a Professional Faroese football club based in Argir. They were playing their 2020 third season in the Faroe Islands Premier League, after being promoted from 1. deild after playing there for 1 season in 2017. After the 2020 season the ended as 9th and played a match against B68 Toftir from 1. deild, the winner would play in the Faroe Islands Premier League for the 2021 season. AB Argir lost the match 2-3 and were relegated to 1. deild. They play their home games at the Inni í Vika Stadium in Argir. History Argja Bóltfelag (or AB) was founded on 15 August 1973 by Danish resident Johnny Nyby and other football enthusiasts on Argjum. In the spring of 1974, the first board was elected. 2016 Faroe Islands Premier League was the 74th season of top-tier football on the Faroe Islands. For sponsorship reasons, it was known as ''Effodeildin''. B36 Tórshavn were the defending champions, having won their eleventh Faroese title in 2015. The season was scheduled to begin on 5 March 2016 and conclude on 22 October 2016. Teams Suðuroy and EB/Streymur had finished 9th and 10th respectively at the end of the previous season and were relegated to the 1. deild as a result. Runavík
Runavík is a comparatively urbanised village in Runavík Municipality, Faroe Islands. It lies on the south half of the isle of Eysturoy. Port Founded in 1916, Runavík has an important port, originally used predominantly by fishing boats but now also a key supply base for the North Sea oil industry as well as a trans-shipment port for freight to and from Europe. The harbour underwent development in the late 1990s and can now accommodate cruise ships. Eysturoyartunnilin A massive infrastructure project has been mounted to build an 11 km-long sub-sea tunnel between Runavík and Tórshavn, thereby significantly reducing travel times to the capital. Við Djúpumýrar (formerly also known as ''Injector Arena'' for sponsorship reasons) is a multi-use stadium in Klaksvík, Faroe Islands. It is mostly used for football matches. Klaksvík
Klaksvík is the second largest town of the Faroe Islands behind Tórshavn. The town is located on Borðoy, which is one of the northernmost islands (the Norðoyar). It is the administrative centre of Klaksvík municipality. History The first settlement at Klaksvík dates back to Viking times, but it was not until the 20th century that the district merged to form a large, modern Faroese town that became a cultural and commercial centre for the Northern Isles and the Faroe Islands as a whole. Klaksvík is located between two inlets lying back to back. It has an important harbour with fishing industry and a modern fishing fleet. Originally, four farms were located where Klaksvík is now. Fuglafjørður Stadium
Fuglafjørður is a village on Eysturoy's east coast in the Faroe Islands. Its name means "fjord of birds". The village is at the edge of a bay and expands into the surrounding steep hills. The town centre is located close to the harbour and contains most of the shops and services. The harbour in Fuglafjørður is busy, as the town's economy is based on the processing of fish and fish meal. There is fishing-industry, a slip, production of trawl and also oil-depots. In the 1970s there was a terrible stink from the fishing-industry but that has since been solved. In the past years Fuglafjørður has also become famous for its newly established cultural centre in the town centre that has become one of the main cultural attractions in Eysturoy.
